Chapter2:The stare

814 Words
...... The classroom was quiet now, the tension from earlier still hanging in the air like a storm cloud that had yet to fully dissipate. "Listen up, class. Today’s focus is mental discipline under pressure," she announced. "We’re not just here to learn how to fight. We’re here to learn how to survive. And that means controlling your mind as much as your body." The students were a mix of experienced agents and rookies, some of whom were already well-versed in the academy’s brutal curriculum. They didn’t need to be told that surviving in a place like PearlBlue meant pushing past their limits—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Just as Yura was about to dive deeper into her lecture, the door swung open again, cutting her off mid-sentence. All eyes immediately turned to the newcomer, a tall figure with a confident stride that radiated a sense of authority of her own. Kurogane Azume, the academy's resident troublemaker, strolled in like she owned the place. Her dark hair was tied back in a messy bun, strands falling free around her face, and her eyes were sharp, scanning the room as she assessed her audience. She was dressed in her usual black leather jacket, ripped jeans, and combat boots—an outfit that screamed "I don't care" but somehow worked on her. Azume's smirk was mischievous as she locked eyes with Yura. "Did I miss something?" she asked, her voice smooth but laced with sarcasm. Her gaze flicked at Hanashi briefly, who was still sitting in the back of the room with an air of calm defiance. Then, her eyes returned to Yura. "Or did you just need a break from being a brat?" "I don’t need a break, Azume," Yura replied coolly, folding her arms over her chest. "But if you want to teach today’s lesson, you’re welcome to. Otherwise, take a seat and keep your comments to yourself." Azume chuckled, unbothered by Yura’s sharp tone. "Nah, I’m good. I was just bored." She tossed a quick glance at the class, her gaze lingering on a few familiar faces before she made her way toward the desk at the back of the room, taking the seat beside Sakeri. Hanashi, who was sitting in the back of the room, leaned back in her chair, arms crossed, her eyes tracing Yura’s every movement. There was something about the way Yura carried herself—so calm, so in control—that drew her in. Maybe it was the way her hair cascaded in soft waves over her shoulders or the way her lips curled when she was annoyed. Whatever it was, Hanashi couldn’t seem to stop staring. Yura, being a spy ,of course, noticed the lingering gaze. Without turning around, she let out a soft sigh, her tone teasing as she addressed the girl. “You’re staring again , Hanashi-kun,” she said, her voice a mix of amusement and warning. “Is my handwriting really that captivating?” Hanashi blinked, her smile never wavering as she met Yura’s gaze. "I’m just trying to figure out why your handwriting looks so... fancy," she said casually, her voice dripping with playful mockery since Yura had a handwritting very similar to that of a kid in elementary school. . “Focus, Hanashi-kun. I know you’re a big deal around here, but even you have to learn something from me.” The rest of the lesson proceeded in its usual flow, with Yura delivering instructions. However, Hanashi’s attention kept returning to Yura, her eyes tracking every movement of the smaller woman with curiosity. Azume, of course, noticed this from afar. "You see that Sakeri, that kid is probably burying yura with her eyes. I wonder what shitty behavior Yura must've shown her for that kid to give her such an intense stare . God save Yura's ass from that psychotic girl, amen " Sakeri chuckled at Azume's comment but couldn't agree that hanashi was staring out of anger , it just looked too calm but harmful at the same time . Yura, oblivious to their exchange, finally closed the textbook she was holding and gave a soft sigh. "Alright, everyone, time’s up. Class dismissed." There was a collective exhale as the students hurriedly packed their things. Hanashi, though, took her time, still half-focused on Yura as she gathered her papers. Yura stood by the desk, leaning against it and glancing around the room to make sure everything was in order. As Hanashi was trying to leave, the last one to do so , she looked at all of Yura in one go moving her eyes from up to down before she crossed her to move towards her dorm. "What a woman , not even flinching when I am staring her intestines out. Let's see how long you keep that up. I hope you die out of embarrassment one day" ........
