Aidan bared his teeth and increased his speed. That doesn’t make it better. We got lucky again. One day, our luck might run out. We ran down a hill and found Gabby, Logan, Sunny, and Honor waiting at the bottom. They turned back in the direction they’d come from and ran slower, waiting for us to catch up. Extra back-up wouldn’t hurt. Logan flanked Beth while Gabby flanked Aidan. Agreed. Aidan sounded relieved. For the next several minutes, the only sounds we heard were the pounding of our paws and animals scurrying. They’re clearing out, Logan said with concern. That’s what happened after my father was killed and the new alpha took over. Wait … your father was the alpha? He’d known about The Hallowed Guild when we’d found him, but he’d kept silent about his past and his knowledge.
