Isadora POV I stared out the window, the cool glass a welcome respite from the stifling air in my room. I wished it rained though, maybe it could have made me feel more refreshed. The AC only made me feel as if I was dying. Well not dying, but it felt as if I was waiting for the moment where I would be found guilty and beheaded. It had been a week since I'd been confined here, with no explanation or end in sight. The only constants were the meals, baths, and books that appeared with clockwork regularity. But even these small comforts felt like a trap, a reminder that I was a prisoner in my own home. My new maids flitted about, their eyes downcast, their smiles forced.
