Chapter 8

1088 Words

CASSIAN POV "Cricket, I never knew that was your favorite brother," I heard Magnus say as he walked into the room. His mocking tone was unmistakable, and I had to force a smile to maintain civility. Magnus was my younger brother, but we had become bitter enemies. Our rivalry had deep roots, originating from our father's decision to name me his successor instead of Magnus, his favorite choice. It had led to years of resentment and hatred. I had learned to navigate this hostile dynamic, mastering the art of concealing my true feelings and responding with practiced indifference. As the heir to the throne, I couldn't afford to let my emotions show, especially in front of my cunning brother. Magnus took pleasure in taunting me, using every opportunity to undermine my position and authority.
