Cassian held me close as we rushed through the side door of his castle. I could still hear the faint sounds of music from the party. A party held out in my regards. My coronation. My breath came out in gasps. I could hear sobs, female sobs, but I had no idea who they came from. “She stepped on a Nightshade Lily,” Cassian shouted to the healer as we burst into the room. “She’s been poisoned.” The healer’s eyes widened in alarm. “Get her on the table, quickly!” she commanded.
