Chapter 42 – Starry Sky

1590 Words
The cultists who are members of Midnight Pentagram that were still in the underground dungeon of the Ravina all vanished together with their alleged leader, Alisa who also escaped from the situation. The Ducal Highness knelt and begged for forgiveness because he let himself be manipulated by the Loveless Revenant. They considered he was being controlled by her and they forgave him since he shouldn't shoulder the blame. He also went and showered her wife with his sentimental worries. What happened to them almost put the city itself in the brink of chaos. They still managed to get through the circumstances. The sisters finally got the stolen Shard of Flames and Frost. Luciella also picked up the Shard of Shadow on the coffin. Duke Deriar admitted while being controlled, he used deception to take advantage of Laken and the other's kindness. He was the one who sent the b****y letter to the sisters. Since all is forgiven and there's nothing to worry about, they eventually returned to the mansion of the duke to treat them better than before. The party and the sisters were sitting on a very luxurious long table in the dining room waiting for the feast the Ducal Highness and his wife prepared for them with their servants. Deriar sat beside her wife, “Come in now,” with just a snap of his finger the maids entered the dining room serving them different meals from dishes to desserts. The butlers gave those who can drink a glass of wine, and those who aren't were given a glass of milk. Luciella was pouting when a butler placed the glass of milk near her plate. She was upset that everyone and anyone almost sees her as a child. She hopelessly stared at Eirisse's bloomed bosom comparing it with her's thinking if that was the case. Deriar stands up and bowed down in front of everyone, “I would gladly repeat myself for this, but I'm very sorry for what happened...” he said with all due respect. “But the feast tonight is for the heroes who saved the Ravina City, and probably the Dethrim Kingdom itself. So, everyone, fill your stomach to your heart's content!” Deriar declared to remove the remorseful mood they were having. With the gloom cleared from the air, they all gleefully began the feast of the night. Luciella would, of course, target the good-looking chocolate cupcakes that would surely give the teeth a bit of pain. “This is so sweet!” Luciella giggled as she forgot her table manners again. “Oh, those were the cupcakes I baked, glad you liked them,” Claren grinned with happiness. The sisters are on the hunt again. Lena grabbed the cookies and secretly ate them below the table. They all can still see them as the board of the table was made of glass. “This is mine, Luna! Go get some for yourself.” Lena snarled as her shy sister Luna was taking the cookies her sister got on her tail. Lena was selfish and doesn't want to share what she had with her sister. The bashful Luna had no choice but to sulk under the table while sobbing from not getting any cookies or sweets. She was too shy to get some sweets directly on the bowl. Everyone in the room found the sisters adorable. They guess not all the time they were always having a good time. Deriar instead asked one of the butlers to get the whole paper bag of cookies. He gently put it behind her. Luna was encouraged when she sniffs something good nearby her and to her surprise, she found the bag of cookies. She began to silently munch them down. “Hey, not fair! Give me too!” Lena insisted and her sister gladly shared the cookies without hesitating. They unquestionably see who is the bad and kind girl of the two of them. Deriar and his wife can't comprehend if the sisters were truly part of the Heavenly Heroes. No matter how much they doubt them, the sisters can always prove their might in terms of skill and magic. Laken partakes his luscious steak. Xenon was on his feet again devouring anything he sees in the table. “My, what a freshly baked spoon-shaped wafer we have here,” Xenon praised the taste of what he consumes. “Ah, no, that was the spoon, and the knife you ate a while ago too was the real deal,” Laken is used to his behavior. He doubts he would listen. Eirisse would just silently chuckle whenever she watched Xenon eat the flatware whatever time of day it is. Laken just sighed and grinned. Contemplating they managed to get through an ordeal. They enjoyed the night to the fullest without worrying about the world for a while. Laken didn't much indulge himself with the taste of the high-quality wine. He also notices that even if Eirisse's Metamorphosis is activated since it is already night, she didn't get drunk much, and rather her nightly arrogant demeanor somehow got better in a positive way. The time has come for them to return on their task. Duke Deriar and Claren gave them their blessings on their journey as they bid farewell to Laken's party and the sisters. The Ducal Highness himself knows they won't accept gold coins as a reward. He instead asked one of his butlers to secretly put the pouch of gold on Laken's belongings. Laken is fully aware that he did that, and instead, he just accepted their kindness as how things should be. But in reality, he also needed it for their adventure. Now both of the sides are standing outside of the inn where they left Xenon's carriage. They shall decide the fate of the shards they keep. “I know this is out of place to say since my sister and I are Heavenly Heroes and you guys are Revenants but...” Lena pulled the Shard of Flames in her pocket. She grabbed Luciella's hand and gave her the shard that she was supposed to protect. “I will only give you my shard not because I trusted you all, simply to prevent from destroying the Ravina City with our pointless fighting if you guys ever tried to steal it from us forcefully.” Lena reasoned to them. “We'll accept it.” Laken didn't mean to sound sarcastic. “You must remember the next time we meet again; we will never hold back got it?” Lena assured as she drags her sister out of their sight. “And the next time you were talking about will be the day where we'll get the Shard of Frost.” Laken declared to the sisters. “Wait, won't you two stay at the inn for tonight...?” Luciella was just worried since they plan to depart in the middle of the night. “Who do you take us for? We are Heavenly Heroes, so don't worry about us!” Lena revealed her wings obviously planning to fly from Ravina City towards the Exian continent. “Farewell everyone, until the next encounter again!” Lena bid farewell and took flight. She carries her sister Luna. They flew across the special night in the Dethrim Kingdom where the outcast isn't blocking the beautiful starry sky. Before they completely disappeared from the eastern atmosphere, Luna chanted a rather touching magic across the view saying, “Thank you,” in the style of sparkling frozen ice forming the message. Laken rather did not take the shard as they can get it from them another time. They are the one insisted so he had no choice. At least they were still able to at least finish their objectives of getting a Shard of Creation. Considering they don't have any reason to stay in Ravina City for too long, Laken preferred to plan things out before they sleep and take a breather. They were in the room of Laken and Luciella setting up their next objectives. Xenon deliberately activated the navigation map since he wanted to hibernate as early as possible. “I'll be quick since you all had droopy eyes,” Laken poked Eirisse's nose bubble. She woke up startled with bleary eyes. He pinpointed the blue dot on the eastern part of the navigation, “Since we're already in the Arcadion Continent, we are going to the Astral Kingdom next.” Laken stated. He asked Xenon to maximize the view. “Specifically, in Alfeiyn City, got any questions?” Laken added. They shook their head except for Luciella. She wanted to ask more about the next place they are going to venture but she was reserved and considerate enough because they are all tired, so she doesn't want to make the discussion much longer. “If so, then you can now return to your rooms,” Laken gestured them to take a rest. The two now returned to their designated place. Eirisse immediately let her tired body be sunk in the comfy bed. The moment Xenon entered the room he switched his hibernation on. Eirisse doesn't want him to sleep on the floor even if he is not affected. Xenon was hefty because his metallic armor is designed to be sturdy. Nevertheless, she took her in bed and stayed resting beside him without any complaints. She changed a tiny bit. There was nothing to do for the day, Laken let Luciella fall asleep first before he finally gets into slumber on the chair. Little did he know Luciella was waiting for such a moment so she can cover him with the blanket and won't catch a cold, but it turns out Laken also faked his sleep so she can finally rest. Everything has turned back and the Midnight Pentagram was no longer in the Ravina City to plan evil deeds. The only problem is they can't predict where they are going to appear again. The next objective they had is to acquire the shard located specifically in the Alfeiyn, one of the four major cities of the Astral Kingdom, the land of the celestials.
