Chapter 84 – Your Wish

1916 Words
The scream of the empress from the central chamber alarmed everyone inside the mansion. Luciella was the one who first went to the room so she didn't hesitate to open the door and she entered the room and to her surprise, she almost retch up from the scene she just witnessed. An unbelievable yet undeniable view, Empress Marielye was on the red carpet unconscious, blood splattered all over the place together with head-maid who protected her at the cost of her life. It was the point when Luciella felt the strong, thick amount of darkness permeating the air. She went beside the empress placing her right hand on Marielye's chest that's clearly been pierced by a large, sharp object from her posterior down to her upper midsection anterior. The empress was obviously, brutally murdered without even a cast of the killer's shadow. The hope was not yet shredded to nothingness, Luciella did her best by showering Empress Marielye with Light Blessing hoping to revive her from the coldness of agony and anguish she underwent. "Wake up empress! Light Blessing! Light Blessing!" Luciella never lost faith and struggled by giving everything she has. But things didn't go well for her. The queen of Archreverie, Nimrie, who's beside the empress when the disaster happened was so scared to her life. She's doing her best to resuscitate the upper half body of Frainan on the corner. "Frainan... wake up..." Nimrie's voice was wavering. Luciella observed how innocent she really must be on the way she's quivering from the unbearable thing that just happened. Luciella knelt where the blood of the empress continually seeps over the red carpet. This time, she realized you don't need perpetual power to save others, but you also need to be by their side. She thought if she was only attentive and listened to the signal of the gleaming shards, then maybe she would have prevented the worst possible outcome. As Luciella held the Shard of Void from her left palm, she saw a piece of parchment Empress Marielye is holding until she met her demise. No other clue who killed her or if the killer is inside the mansion, she grabbed the parchment and read what's written in it, "...we were fooled all along... repeat everything... be careful of the star..." It seems Marielye wrote the message right before the last spark of her life vanished. "I don't understand... what does it mean–" a surge of instinct circulated around Luciella's veins when she felt a demonic bloodlust around the vicinity. It's an unbearably strong, malefic dark magic that she immediately went where Queen Nimrie is kneeling as Luciella chants her magical spell to counter an incoming projectile, "Flames of fury; answer this call and spiral at my will: Fireball!" She pushed back the queen and at the right time her Fireball was chanted, her spell caught a flying dagger meant to assassinate the queen of Archreverie. Things went haywire and Luciella heard explosions and tremors around the mansion. She knows Laken and the rest must be also fighting over the other enemies that infiltrated the premises. "Queen Nimrie! Are you alright?" Luciella asked her. The queen never doubted her and embraced the one who saved her all the while shivering from terror. "I am..." Nimrie glimpse at the bloodstain and she tightly closed her eyes. Luciella thinks despite her phobia of blood, she never left Frainan who's brutally assassinated in front of her. The strong sense of justice Luciella got from Laken was set ablaze within her. She understands the assassin in the room couldn't just be defeated by petty magic she can cast. That's why she held the Shard of Void who's calling her from the beginning and answered the shard's power, "Answer my prayer, Shard of Void!" The flux of the void element gathered inside her soul and body to empower her overall magic capabilities. It was so intense and majestic the queen beholds Luciella as her mage garment changes into a violet frilly dress manifested from pure mana. Now Luciella recognizes that the shards are giving her power based on her needs in every situation. The change of dress was something she visualizes when the Magus Incarnation happens so she learns and got the gist of how the shards actually work. It's not about whether she holds perpetual power, but how she must use it for the better. With the unimaginable power at the grasps of her fingertips, she confronted the assassin head-on as a Magus Incarnation. "Show yourself!" Luciella spins her wand infused in pure void magic. The air became stagnant as the change of gravity around the room has reached double the threshold; meaning, the strong gravitational pull will restrict the assassin's movement no matter where the perpetrator must be. A man cloaked in a black vest and white mask with an eye inscribed with blood suddenly drove down to the red carpet. Luciella hits right on the money, her perfect control despite being first time conscious during her Magus Incarnation is unbelievable. It's as if her newfound power the shard gave her courses not through just her body and soul, but also her mind. She was able to figure out the special skills and control without actually learning what the shard could do. For Luciella, it sounded absurd but the shard taught her the moment she wielded it. It's already definitely happening. While the queen's clutching her waist, she went to the assassin and focused the considerable amount of gravity on his posterior to prevent him from escaping. "Who are you?! Who do you work for?" Luciella grilled him. She'll make sure if he moved a single nuance of movement, she'll never hesitate to crush his bones. "Magus... you don't need to speak further, we already won the war!" The veiled man disappeared in thick inflation of smoke around him. Unfortunate it may be, Luciella surmises it's not the real body of the assassin. She tried to think harder about the message Empress Marielye wanted them to learn, and why did the assassin tell them they already won the war. Everything went to a downhill when she heard an extreme scream of agony coming from the lobby, along with the full awakening of Revenant Metamorphosis in which even Luciella can feel like a breeze of dark magic throughout her body; something they call eerie. She didn't see it but she's sure Laken, Eirisse, and Xenon tapped the full potential of their curse to the limit. Luciella comprehends because it already happened and she needed to stop it at all costs. "Void Orb!" She encapsulated Queen Nimrie in an elemental barrier chanted with pure void magic to protect her. The darkness contained in a single room has blasted out when Luciella kicked the emergency door. Atrocity, cruelty, and s*******r filled her mind all the while covering her mouth from the scene she just witnessed. Eirisse was lying on the floor lifeless, her heart was plucked off her body. Xenon's armor made out of alloys is scattered all over the place; it's obvious he activated his Metamorphosis but he was destroyed on the spot with dark-silver platinum plating as proof. While Alisa was massacred in the worst possible way than the empress and Fraina, Luciella couldn't explain what just happened. The only thing she knew was that her face is beyond recognition. But most of all, there she witnessed a blood-red armored man grasping Laken's neck with a sword pierced on his chest. The expression Luciella gave off was something she never did before. Her feelings and hope returned in a pitfall of darkness where she thinks power can solve everything. At that moment in her life, she never bothered if she's powerless or whatsoever, even if she had perpetual power or what. All she did was stand where she took her first step, tears began to roll on her cheeks unbeknownst her will. Despite the sword struck directly at Laken's chest, he still never gave up and pulled his weapon the second Luciella's tear fell like a falling iris petal. "Argh! I am aware you shall return... such cliché... let's settle this once for all... Faithless Revenant... or should I say, Demon Lord Balakiel!" The burning fervor Laken possessed was something that brings hostility to the surroundings. It was the first time Luciella felt the intense azure flames he's letting ablaze on his right arm. However, before he could even swing his sword, the Demon Lord gripped Laken's neck even further to the point there's no way he could breathe. "How callous of you Laken, Bloodless Revenant. I merely accepted my fate, and I am here with my Dark Entities to end the world!" Balakiel declared and he pushed down the sword together including Laken so that he'll slowly be rendered to the coldness of death. "Hm...?" The Demon Lord notices Luciella, "Why the long face young lady? Oh... so you are..." The azure flame on Laken's right hand is gradually waning, but he still managed to muster the remaining of his strength to say, "Get out of here Luciella..." That's the moment Luciella just woke up from the reality, along with the world she knew about crumbling to oblivion. Not just Laken, even Xenon, Eirisse, Alisa, and Thalfeur; everyone else on that day met their demise. On the verge of life and death, Luciella refuses to lose hope in front of the Faithless Revenant. The other three Dark Entities appeared behind the Demon Lord, as well as the assassin who killed Empress Marielye so they're a total of four. Demon Lord Balakiel steps towards where Luciella is standing, ready to accept her fate. Now that she looks in a clearer view, it seems they captured Eris for some reason and being held captive by one of the Dark Entities, while Tetra was also destroyed. Even if it costs her life, Luciella's blazing conviction and fervor made her unfazed at the sight of her friends' demise. The Faithless Revenant feasts upon the unfaithfulness of a person, but when Balakiel tried to extract Luciella's fear, she doesn't have something he coveted for. For a glimpse of a second, the lone girl Balakiel tried to mess doesn't have the eyes of a princess, she had the eyes of someone who's ready to kill for the sake of her special someone. Because Luciella's heart isn't filled by fear and unfaithfulness, and rather it was the first time she tasted the ire Laken felt upon the cursed world. "Magus... you shall die!" Balakiel swings his sword meant to separate one's upper body, and miraculously, Luciella singlehandedly parried the blade of his sword with her fingertips. The great Demon Lord was pushed back that the Dark Entities had to support him. Balakiel is back on his feet and said, "Showing your true form now, young lady?" "I am me... I am your wish... I am the one who'll destroy you..." Luciella's talking in a monotonic tone. She's definitely controlling herself. The only difference is that the flux of perpetual power is taking a toll on her body that she's unable to demonstrate a proper expression. Balakiel noticed she's directly looking at something on the floor, and then he realizes the Shard of Time was on the Arcanum Core of Tetra Sylvana whom they destroyed a while ago. "Prevent her from taking that shard!" Balakiel exclaimed. "As you wish." The four Dark Entities are his loyal servant. They all commenced his command. The fate really turned the wheel of destiny, Luciella dispensed a massive explosion of void spells on the Dark Entities as she grabbed the Shard of Time from the remnants of Tetra's mechanical body. "Grant my wish...!" Luciella shouted her soul out. The innocent lady emanated a blinding light of justice that casts away all darkness, along with the hope to correct her mistakes encapsulated within her dying wish.
