Chapter 69 – Final Servant

1820 Words
Rain began to pour a vivid melancholy. Droplets of water pattered against their weapons and armor. Tetra knew the valkyries will shift their attention towards Laken after the adversary has been taken care of. She considered the current circumstances and made a precautionary adjustment. After all, she can't illogically arrest the man who just saved the entire town with the pure desire to protect the peace while also expecting nothing in return. She also has to make sure Eris wakes up or else it would ignite the flames of war again. Tetra stood in front of Eris's unconscious condition. She used her authority to prevent anyone from getting near them. Securing Laken's party especially Luciella to finish healing her wounds so the valkyries would calm for the meantime. Luciella placed both her arms onto her stiff shoulders, "Show me the guidance of your illuminance... Light Blessing!" Her incantation was followed by a blinding light of enveloping aura coming from her waist pocket. The Shard of Nature gifted the last Light Blessing Luciella invoked, wrapping Eris's wounds in a warm blanket of light that gradually expunges her mortal scars. Everyone has seen yet another miracle. The valkyries were astonished that such wounds which are almost impossible to recover was been healed by Luciella. Their effusive gladness after they dropped their shield and sword was priceless as they blow the horn of victory marching the successful defense upon the Eagleborn Town. Eris woke up by the loud noise and wanted them to tone it down when she was greeted by Laken and Luciella who's undoubtedly worried, "I'm alive...?" Both of them just smiled to show how exhilarated they are. Eris's loyal friend, Reya, couldn't contain her emotions and rushed towards her giving her the most ardent embrace. "Never push your limits again, will you? I thought you were gone, Eris...!" Reya gracefully parted her embraced. Eris was aware of what she did and just acted based on what should help everyone. Besides, her instinct is telling her the half-elf she just saved is an important person for Laken. Now that everything is fixed and the plaza returned to its former state; they still needed to mend the destruction and help the townspeople from repairing labor. Tetra used it as her advantage and distracted the valkyries' attention, "Your commander is fine now. Those that can still move, help your comrades and other townspeople for the restoration of the town. Commence right here and now!" She gave the command towards them and the valkyries stood upright in an assertive and proper posture. They corrected their own feet and kept them at a sixty-degree angle before giving Tetra a customary salute to commence her direct order, "Ma'am, yes ma'am!" Their confident voice resonated as one. She imprinted on their mind the orthodox that a salute is the greatest form of respect towards another comrade. No one will hinder Tetra's initial objective of speaking with Laken. She led the initiative after she deactivated the emission of photon lasers on her spear. It became somewhat a piece of rod that she kept between the wedge against her mechanical arm. The party is fully aware she's a Heavenly Hero, their natural predator. Xenon's instinct is telling him Tetra's wavelength isn't something that brings malice or war. He can understand his fellow mechanoid defender after all. Nevertheless, Xenon obstructed her advance as she'll remain the type of person that can change the tides of the situation, "As a fellow mechanoid defender, you must face me first Tetra." When she heard Xenon's impertinence, they heard a loud clanking sound from the inside of Tetra's chest. The clockwork on her core shifted dozens of times before her demeanor altered into something that shouldn't. Those who knew what happened understood she just changed personality and attribute to match with Xenon's impudent demeanor. Though she's not uttering what personality she just switched upon just like Xenon himself. "How dare you stand in my way, lowborn?!" They are all appalled by her drastic change in overall character. Xenon may have the ability to switch attributes but not to a certain degree that will make a bad impression on the second speaker. Her grimace was enough to instill fear if they didn't know she was a mechanoid defender who can easily change one's characteristics. In spite of everything, instead of lowering one's pride and talk it out with reasonable actions, Xenon's foolishness led him to ride with her features. The clanking metals reverberated within his chest changing his personality, "Changing attribute: angry..." Laken, Eirisse, Alisa, and even Luciella herself sighed deeply. They are prepared for the battle of constant bickering where two mechanoids talk their emotions all out. "Here we go again," Eirisse rolled back her eyes. "Yeah," Laken groaned. "You're above a few upgrades from me and you're talking to me lightly?! Don't get cocky by asserting your dominance in front of my comrades," Xenon didn't budge an inch and stayed put from his side. Tetra frowned displaying her fierce arrogant self. She picked her arsenal rod from her arms and yanked it off to reveal her intimidating photon spear. If it's proving who had a better weapon, Xenon would never just stand by and let her do as she pleases. He swung his mechanized arsenal Stargazer upward that vaporized the stored raindrops from the ground. "My weapon is amazing, isn't it? Just what can your puny spear do?" Xenon provoked Tetra to a threshold that would incur her wrath. Tetra accepted his word as an insult. She stepped back and charged up her spear to a range that melts away the rain. It was the only moment Xenon knew he overdid what he started. He walked backward when he saw Tetra charging her weapon preparing for a plunging pierce, a special spear technique that could be considered unavoidable when in close quarters. "Pierce through the heaven–" Promptly after she charges a tremendous amount of energy, her attack has been canceled when a red-bar limiter on her arm alarmed off. A large portion of steam came out of her mechanical armor before totally falling on the ground. "Achoo~" Luciella sneezed from the coldness the rain brings. Laken warmly covered her with his white cloak to keep her snug. Eris has felt subtle envy upon seeing how he cared for her well being. When Tetra's back on her rational self, she scanned the bodily temperature of everyone with her thermal lenses. She realized they got soaked too much in the rain because of their illogical strife. She felt responsible and beckoned them to make amends, "Let us talk it out on my office everyone." They all agreed without saying a thing. Tetra suddenly carried Eris after taking flight on the air. Xenon instantly discerns she must mean to follow her. He revealed his mechanical wings and carried Luciella and Eirisse while he held Laken with his extending arms from behind. Alisa was left below them since Xenon can't physically hold a banshee, "I'll follow you guys so don't worry about me." "Take care, Alisa!" Luciella's too considerate she just bid safety for a banshee in which can't be hurt by any kind of physical form. It shows how much she values her comrades. Although Eris was still wondering why they were looking at an open space since she can't see Alisa who was fighting by their side the whole time. Xenon gave her a salute before following Tetra across a certain altitude from the sky. Alisa's banshee can easily appear beside those who saw her so traveling during her Metamorphosis won't be a hassle. But she's worried about her material form and returned to the inn to check the undead assassins burrowing from her shadow. There's nothing unusual happened. She chanted her magic just in case, "Death won't hinder the living, from bone to existence, arise my loyal servant... Summon Undead: Skeletal Knight." The undead summons is fine and Alisa even added additional undead knight lurking on the shadows of the door to make sure it's safe to just leave her physical body. Though she can't ignore the fact there is someone or something that's observing their room aside from Eris who was stalking Laken before he left the inn. She made sure no one's currently observing the inn again by looking for traces of magic signature around the vicinity of the inn at a certain distance. After she double-checked things, she slightly licked the thumbs of her finger to turn the pages of her necromantic tome. It's the same tome she accidentally found when she was still a child on an old public library in the Skyhaven Kingdom. Alisa converted most of her dark magic on her open palms. She whispered the words of her necrotic magic spell. Few layers of a necromantic magic circle glow brighter becoming the basis of her creation. It's the final spell written on the book of necromancy in which it can encapsulate the soul of the worthy to forever become servant until the last breath of the caster. The price may be too much, but the bargain has an equivalent exchange as the servant could possess tenfold of their initial power before they deteriorated. She taps the full potential of control over life and death, the true art of necromancy at the tips of her fingers. Sinister eerie permeated the air. She invoked grand magic that can surpass those of the Heavenly Heroes, "Death will be the basis of the living, from life to extinction... arise my final servant! Summon Undead: Skeletal King!" The dark magic Alisa accumulated constitutes the one and only necrotic magic circle with intricate ancient script and glyphs that inflates from the layers of magic. Later, the same magic circle reanimated the dust around and gradually formed a skeleton accompanied by a soul surging with formidable strength and magic. What manifested before her presence was a noble undead knight. The summon's characteristics might be the same with her other skeletal peons at first sight, but his ironclad armor from posterior to anterior is very notable. He stands as if he's a knight in shining armor. His sword's elaborate craftsmanship isn't something you can find anywhere. The clothed part of his mail from his neck is tailored the way nobles prefer it done as if it accentuates his royal lineage. When Alisa gestured her fingers, he knelt down without wasting a single millisecond. She gave him free will so he can be allowed to speak for himself. "It's a pleasure to be summoned by you, my lady Alisa. I shall forever be your servant." He surely knows few flatteries. His deep voice speaks for the legend he conquered when he was still alive. "Iser Constantine! Stand my loyal servant, accompany me where Laken is." Alisa called his name before giving his first task for a long, long time. He stood with courage and pride. He's the true definition of a gallant knight. "As you wish my lady." Iser's loyalty doesn't need to be proved, for his deed is enough. Alisa, accompanied by her strongest undead summon Iser, is now heading towards where Tetra beckoned the rest of the party to come. There's a reason why she called him, and the truth she'll unfold will surely bring light to the looming enigma, as well as darkness upon the unknown.
