Chapter 75 – Learning Magic

1609 Words
The day went by without any worries. They just finished breakfast after eating their fill with Thalfeur's other specialty, wild boar soup, and mountain herbs tea to warm up their guts on a new dawn. In spite of their intrusion into Tetra's home, they seem to have become accustomed to the place in a span of overnight. Their stay on her home regrets Xenon paying an advance fee to the inn from Eagleborn. He must have changed attribute into frugal and realized the mistake. They didn't mind about it since they can't return what they already paid. Meanwhile, after Luciella finished taking a breather on Tetra's backyard garden to soothe up her feelings, she decided that she won't waste the time on that day and determined she must become stronger further by asking her comrades to teach her. She wanted to learn the art of magic conversation more so she can have control over her spells. She thinks Xenon will be the best mentor as he can convert mana into different kinds of usable energy. The mechanoid defenders are intellectual race despite their inexperience on emotional responses and the study of the meaning of life. Luciella noticed Alisa sitting on a bench talking with Iser beside her who just returned from the Eagleborn to retrieve Alisa's physical body. She approached her to ask about Xenon's whereabouts, "Hm... Alisa and Iser, have you seen Xenon around?" Alisa entered into her material form by simply passing her body and replied to her, "Xenon you say? He returned to Eagleborn to retrieve our carriage. But I know he just wanted a refund since we didn't stay in the inn." "Oh, is that so? When he will be back?" Luciella asked again. "By afternoon I guess." Alisa simply answered. The day was still young but Luciella already stoops in sorrow. She must have figured they all have things to take care of. Since Luciella's at it, she also asked about where Eirisse and Laken are so at least she can learn the other things she desired, "What about Eirisse and Laken?" "Eirisse is idling in the room where we all slept together, and I think I saw Eris accompanied by Laken going out of the capital," Alisa responded and she surmised why Luciella seeks them. Luciella just let her surprised face as response and all of a sudden she became gloomy. She once again stoops in sadness as she walks towards the forest in order to train by herself. "Wait, Luciella!" Alisa called out for her as she knew what's troubling her. "What is it?" Luciella faced her. "If you're looking for someone who can teach you the art of magic before tomorrow, why not ask me instead? Believe me or not I am a proud mentor of Xenon and I taught him a lot of things." Alisa boasted out her achievements and volunteered to help Luciella instead. Now that Luciella remembers, when she was at Xenon's fragments of memory; Alisa was the one who teaches him the majority of different emotions he's using every now and then. "Really?" Luciella's eye glinting with stars in excitement as she holds her wooden wand. "Well, we'll start right away! Let's go shall we?" Alisa signaled Thalfeur from afar with a single wave of the hand saying they'll just have to go to the forest. Thalfeur will inform Laken if ever he returned early and found Luciella missing to avoid further problems.  But the only mistake of Alisa by counting on him was that he knew if they were going to the forest for any kind of reason, they are bound to take a bath on a nearby river. He's already imagining Luciella's petite figure and Alisa's curvature points. Thalfeur just had a set of plans ahead just so he could peek at them later while both of them refresh themselves up. Alisa ushered Luciella on the deeper part of the forest where there's a river if ever they get tired they could have a breather. The place isn't safe yet so she gestured Iser and asked him to scout if ever wild animals or Nightbeasts are roaming around, he should eliminate them as quickly as possible. She doesn't like someone or something to interfere with their training lessons. "Where do we start then? I just wanted someone to guide me too..." Luciella's so eager to have Alisa accompany her. Since she was a child when she's still locked up in her room, unlike her sisters who have a special mentor that is an alumnus of Tower of Sorcerers, Luciella had no one to guide her the proper way of magic. Even if that was the case, she didn't let herself sulk in a corner and cry like a spoiled princess.  She preferably read a lot of books pertaining to the control of magic and much more so she can prove to her sisters and her father, the king, that she can be strong too. The idea of a real spell caster teaching her magic arts was enough for her to be exhilarated. "It must be hard for you. Don't expect too much though, I also self-studied necromancy as you have seen on Laken's recollections just like how you studied the basics of magic." Alisa doesn't want her to have high hopes. But Luciella doesn't care, because she still appreciates Alisa for giving her the spared amount of time in studying. "It's fine, thank you in advance for helping me." Luciella showed her a warm smile she usually exposes when she's with Laken. Alisa thought she learned how to open up. She was glad she's not doing anything important and was able to have training lessons with her. She first went beside a sturdy and thick tree, and then Alisa slammed her head against the trunk causing her to go out of consciousness. That's where her Revenant Metamorphosis activated as her material body was carried by Iser. Meanwhile, he just finished patrolling around the vicinity where they'll practice and study magic. Luciella was scared to herself that such sight of someone hurting themselves could no longer flinch her. "To be honest, you already have a knack in the art of magic. I have seen you can quickly adapt a move you have observed and make your own version of it without you knowing it." Alisa complimented Luciella's capability. She couldn't help but be bashful about it. On the other hand, Alisa is just basing her deduction from when Laken and Luciella met each other. At that time, she couldn't even use her Light Blessing, a healing spell to mend her bruises. But now she can even heal a person on an imminent death. An empowered bullet of a balakhian soldier's rifle means the end. Luciella miraculously denied demise and her overwhelming desire to protect has pushed her limit to the fullest. "It takes years to be a full pledge spell caster if you studied in the Tower of Sorcerers; the famous academy in the Arcanos Kingdom that is said holds all kinds of magic information around the world," Alisa stated it's not easy becoming a mage. She's not discouraging her, and rather strengthening Luciella's fighting spirit so she can learn her weakness. "Is that so..." Luciella frowned. She must be under a deep contemplation that one can't learn advanced magic easily. Before it turns into worse, Alisa placed her arm on her shoulders to at least lift up some of the tension. Everyone just has to start the beginning. What only matters is the desire to improve is what will make one stronger than their past selves. "I will teach you the secret of arcane magic. Don't worry, you truly had great potential, and you studied the basics, so it would be fast for you I promise." Alisa saw the spark of glimmering stars on her eyes. "Really?! I will listen to you, master Alisa!" Luciella suddenly fired up. It was a long, long time when she heard the word master from Xenon. Now Alisa's heart flutter and she's somewhat bashful when Luciella called her that way. She welcomed her happiness and comfort, and that made Alisa feel elated too. Both of them perched on a wooden log that was near a tree. Alisa believes Luciella should learn the secret of magic that most of the mage and spell caster misunderstood about. "Listen Luciella, the magic is vast around the world. Each race, take the elven for example, have a set of beliefs to utilize the mana they were born with." Alisa began to tell the lecture. "What does it mean?" Luciella tilted her head wondering. "For them, magic is considered life. An elf believing that magic is part of them makes them able to commune with nature itself. The mother nature gives them magic, and they shall return it back." Alisa's words reach new ideas and concepts for Luciella. "What about humans?" Luciella asks. "Humans are astonished by the concept of magic. The only problem is they see it as a tool rather than a part of life." Alisa answered her. "That's sad..." Luciella stoops in blues. "Us humans have lower mana potential. However, because of this, we were blessed with different ideas of magic such as enchant magic and other spells that require imagination rather than appreciation." Alisa surely knows what's the answer. The idea of the concept isn't something that they should judge, as every race has a belief of what true magic is. Luciella was able to learn the diversity of the world. Some things cannot be achieved by mere gratitude over magic and rather must cling onto visualization. "I will show you now an example of what I was talking about behind the image of mind and the self-deprecation over one's potential." Alisa seizes the wooden branch ready to chant her magic. Luciella's eyes are filled with stars from excitement about Alisa's lessons, and she impatiently waits for the actual demonstration of magic she's about to show her.
