Chapter 57 – Unyielding Spirit

1787 Words
The Reshlinfeur Dungeon has spacious hallways than the Ravina's underground dungeon. Laken's party and Alice annihilated the Nightbeasts and cultists who obstructed in their ways showing no mercy. They dashed through the enemies' base ushered by Xenon without breaking a sweat. The unstoppable force of the Revenants and the twelfth Heavenly Hero are too strong for the mobs of Nightbeasts. “Are we almost there?” Laken was eager. The clanking sound of his armor filled the air swinging his sword left and right be it enemy or a trap will never escape his impeccable swordsmanship. “Radiation level is becoming higher. We should be arriving at the location with the third hallway below.” Xenon assured checking his navigation map for validity. They repelled everything along in their path. Eirisse targets exactly at the heart of the cultists through the speed given by Luciella's Thunder Enchant. Alice uses the very flames of stardust to burn them down to smithereens. The path they have taken gave them quite an amazement. The intricate details of ancient texts on the wall were too old even Alice couldn't decipher them. The pillars cast shadows through the torches indicating they were others before them. Until when Xenon guided them to the location, they were welcomed by an enormous gate made out of thick sedimentary rocks that have elaborate engravement of ancient texts. Alice presumes it is not just a dungeon than they expected. Alice notices Luciella's a little bit agitated when she's playing both her index fingers, “You also felt the woeful flow of magic isn't it?” She held her hand to make her feel comfortable. “I can hear... the voice of someone... reaching for something...” Eirisse told which made all of them feel a little bit anxious. Laken held his sword in determination. He had a hunch if what he was thinking is correct, he shall unleash his strength in full fury, because he promised to her. Xenon and Alice tried to decipher how to open the gate towards their target, “Be on guard–” he was suspended and they certainly went on guard when the swarm of Nightbeasts and the cultists appeared all of a sudden behind the pillar's shadow. “How dare you enter the queen's chamber without permission?!” One of the cultists exclaimed. “The eternal slumber of the queen will be forever! We shall destroy you all!” Declared another cultist. When Laken heard what they said, he grinned secretly. The cultists and Nightbeasts step backed when they behold how extreme the menace he is giving off. “He's the Bloodless Revenant! Anyone who brings his head shall be rewarded by the queen!” They were unhesitant at first but they eventually all attack at once without any formation. Eirisse licked her claws in excitement. It turns her on just how much heart she can harvest on the battlefield they are standing, “Well, well, thanks for the dinner.” “Eirisse and I will repel them to buy time, open the gate during that moment!” Laken declared in fervor. “Roger!” Xenon responded and the others commenced the plan. The battlefield this time is in a spacious area and they are very outnumbered for the two of them to deflect their onslaught. But the hidden smirked they showed means they enjoy the idea of a m******e, especially the bloodthirsty vampire. Laken grasp his sword and took a stance of the unyielding spirit, “Disappear in my sight! Consuming s***h!” He struck in a fast-upside-down technique to deliver them to their demise. Their heads were perfectly detached on their main body. Truly Laken's sword always finds the mark. He always displays disgust to himself whenever he is seeing the stream of blood coming from his enemies. “Blood Chains!” Eirisse used the very blood of the enemies to shackle their material form. Once they can no longer move an inch, be it Nightbeasts or cultists, no one can escape her ferocious harvest because, for Eirisse, the idea of plucking the heart of the living isn't just murder, but a form of art whenever she watches their scream of agony right before dying. “Argh! I really can't read this ancient text!” Alice complained stomping her feet. They tried their best but they truly can't understand how to open the gate. They even checked the surroundings if there were some switch or anything, Laken and Eirisse are strong but they were being pushed back. There's not much time anymore, Xenon jerked his Stargazer and geared up his mechanical armor, “Accelerating Combustion Buster: Defender Mode!” He changed form to an iron paladin. Xenon stepped back and gathered a tremendous amount of energy in his fist together with his leg thrusters. Alice was sweating when she presumes what he is going to do, “Hey, I think that is a very bad idea.” She drawled tiptoeing away from him. “You know what? I'm tired of these stupid ancient symbols. This is how we do things! Maximum Energy Discharge: Castle Breaker!” All of the forced Xenon gathered were unleashed in a devastating physical blow right into the chamber's gate. The entrance didn't even budge an inch, however, Luciella saw the c***k that started to travel from the mark up to the flooring of the upper floor. “I think we need to get out of here?” Luciella suggested fully aware of what is going to happen next. Eirisse turned her head to see what Xenon did, “What have you done?! Get out of there now!” “I'm sorry!” Xenon apologizes. He grabbed Alice and Eirisse and hovered over the pillars. The gigantic gate made out of rocks began to crumble, right after it completely destroyed and they needed to avoid the crumbling debris. They eluded the collapsing ruins or else they'll be buried alive. Eirisse and Laken were caught by the falling rubbles, “Laken!” Luciella called out for him. He responded by sticking out his arm. She isn't entirely sunk into the wreckage and was able to get back to her feet. After she pulled Laken, she gave the coldest glare from where Xenon was taking flight as if saying he will pay later. “That vampire's absolutely scary!” Alice commented. Xenon landed together where they were and let Alice and Luciella take a hop after they arrived. When Alice thinks about it, she could have levitated but she forgot to because of panic. Good thing the Nightbeasts and cultists escaped when the gate was destroyed. They didn't waste much time and entered the chamber where Zoroaster and the unknown magic signature is coming from. “It's so dark.” Alice was trembling and hid behind Xenon. “Hm... I don't feel anything.” Laken tried to use his sense and there's nothing but emptiness in the vicinity. They were further advancing, each step resonated throughout the chamber. There's nothing to be afraid but they sure all alarmed when Alice suddenly shrieks, “Something touched my feet!” She instantly went and climbed Xenon's shoulders. “Who are you?!” Xenon used her mechanical gears on his chest to produce a temporary light towards the floor. They saw a very good-looking man who is crawling to reach them. Xenon is contemplating why he had not done that the moment they entered in. “Alice... is that you?” He asked in a fading voice. Alice immediately recognized his voice. He had a remarkably advance technomagic arsenals all over his body. His white hair was pretty messed up, his garments are torn apart but Alice surely knows who he was when she saw the massive cannon filled with mana attached on his posterior. “Zoroaster!” Alice immediately went and grabbed the Alpha Core on his belongings. She forcibly installed the core directly onto his empty encasement. After the core functioned properly, the surge of magic affinity flux within. They felt the amount of power he possessed. The mana gives his entire body the energy it needed, gradually recharging the large cannon he has. “I'm sorry for not introducing myself but I'm Zoroaster. I will make sure to thank you all properly, but we need to deal with him first.” Zoroaster pinpointed the laser of his sensory through the ends of the chamber. The laughter of a lunatic permeated the entire air, the torches on the pillars were ignited one by one until they can clearly see what is the surroundings. They all witnessed the man in the veil at the threshold of the stage, he was without a doubt the Dimension Reaper, Barbaros, “Welcome to the queen's chamber, I am stuck to defend her, but the others insisted so I am here.” He held his scythe grinning. However, they are all astonished when they saw what is on the stage itself. Laken widened his eyes when he beholds the cage made out of diamond crystal while the roots of the darkness were crawling upon it. There was a woman inside the elegant prison. Her black hair is lossy just like Laken's. Her pale lips mirroring from light. The garments she had were the dress of necromancer that has an ornament of skulls. He couldn't believe who was the woman imprisoned in the enclosure of the diamond cluster.  “You were here all along Alisa...?” Laken said in a fleeting tone. “Laken... you found me,” Alisa revealed herself beside her physical body. It was without a doubt, the bigger green dot Xenon saw on his navigation map was Alisa who is inside the diamond cage. When the Revenants were cursed, some killed themselves, some got out of control, and the others sealed their material form because they couldn't accept what they have become. When celestials die, their body becomes stardust made out of diamonds. In the case of Alisa, she used her necrotic magic to enclosed herself in the corpse of the celestials inside the chamber. Away from everyone and everything, and the mirrored self she created is merely being used by the Midnight Pentagram. Laken removed the silver choker on his neck. The moment he saw the halted tears Alisa had on her crystallized form, the azure flames in his arm began to burn so brightly it warms the surrounding. He stepped forward and declared, “Back off, this is my battlefield now,” Laken's eyes were stern and unyielding. “Is he the Bloodless Revenant?” Zoroaster himself felt the menace was so strong he instinctively went on defensive mode. “Alright, things became serious so let us step back for now,” Xenon suggested to them. “Yeah, good idea,” Eirisse agreed since she knew this is Laken they are talking about. “Laken... be safe.” Luciella clasped her hands, she believed Laken more than anyone. The burning azure flames engulfed his right arm up to his shoulders. The clanking of his armor with each step he makes is enough to send shivers down to the spine, “Alisa... I shall fulfill my promise once and for all!” He declared that resonated throughout the entire room. The other cultists and Nightbeast arrived. The mirrored self of Alisa and Barbaros himself may never back down, but they understood the true meaning of fear the moment they heard the howl of the Bloodless Revenant. The rest faced the reinforcement of the Midnight Pentagram. Laken takes a deep breath, firmly grasped his sword, and ready to smite anyone who will hinder his path.
