Chapter 22 – Gem of Creation

The dawn finally arrives. There's no sunlight that wakes them up from their chilly beds because of the season.

Xenon never closed his eyes not even for a second. He thinks Eirisse will plan up something after coming back from a midnight stroll.

It turns out she hit the sack exhausted from traveling in the mountains. Xenon's fine without getting sleep since he's mostly reliant on his energy when doing things.

Laken and Luciella moved to the first room. They arrived seeing Xenon trying hard to wake Eirisse up.

Xenon poked her cheeks many times until she eventually woke up. “Hmm...? It's morning already?” Eirisse stretched her arms wide. She surely got her beauty sleep.

They all accepted a glass of water. Luciella got it on the well outside the inn when the woman at the counter lent her a jar and wooden bucket.

“Let's now review things,” Laken initiated the discussion. “Xenon, show them the map of the world.” He ordered him.

“Roger. Recreating map navigation. Complete structure specified.” Xenon said in a monotonic voice.

From the magic circle from his palms, he showed the party the topography map of the world manifested through the gleam of light photons in the room as a compressed form.

A majestic light of patterns started to appear like magic in front of them. It's the work of technomagic so it has a similarity to normal enchantment.

“I won't waste half of one percent energy if we only bought a map.” Xenon complains but no one cared.

Laken pointed out to the north where a red dot can be seen. “This point is where we are now, the Frozen Northlands. The other six blue dots are positions of the other six shards, simple as that,” Laken explains. The others squinted their eyes to see other green dots.

“What about these green dots?” Eirisse asked. “Good question,” He opened the windows beckoning Eirisse to see what's outside.

She couldn't believe her eyes when she saw a carriage that is big enough for trading. Eirisse became more elated soon she saw a card Laken's waving. She immediately came closer to see if it's what she thinks it is.

“Amazing, it's a merchant pass! We don't need to walk now,” Eirisse told in glee.

She clings to Laken unconsciously. She realized it's not proper so she sprawled back to bed with her face on the pillow.

“The chief gave us the carriage as thanks together with a pass and some goods to make it look like we are traveling merchant,” Laken explains. He hid the pass on a small pocket on his waist belt.

“Now for your answer, the green points are places we can traverse,” Laken denoted.

He asked Luciella to show the shards. “What we have is the Shard of Nature, Void, Shadow, Sky, Aqua, and Cosmos.”

He cleared his throat before continuing. “Now look at these two points,” He pointed his index finger to the blue points that are located in the Arcadion Continent. Specifically the Dethrim Kingdom.

“Xenon reckoned these two points where the Shard of Flames and Frost is currently located. That is protected by the twin prodigy of the two neighboring kingdoms. The Frozen Northlands and Volcanyon,” Laken states.

Eirisse raised her right hand. “I think...” she's a bit skeptical. “Two Heavenly Heroes at the Dethrim Kingdom? What would they be doing in the land of the vampires?” She asked concerned since it's her homeland.

“Vacation? Maybe they got tired of the cold and hot season they wanted the black clouds there.” Xenon butted in. They stared at him as if saying he's not making any sense.

“Okay, we don't understand either. Luna Daphnel Pon, the Heavenly Hero from the Frozen Northlands is nowhere to be found in her homeland according to Xenon's radar. The same with the Heavenly Hero from the Volcanyon, Lena Daphnel Pon.” Laken explained to them.

“In short, there's nothing for us to do here if the Heavenly Hero of the Frozen Northlands isn't here. No Heavenly Hero, no shard.” He added taking into account the time they should take.

“Are you sure Xenon's navigation isn't broken?” Eirisse questions in doubt.

“No. I already got the magic signature of all the twelve Shards of Creation. That's why I was able to save you all when I detected five of the shards gathered in one place.” Xenon answered with truth and evidence.

“Now with more important matters; it's about the Dark Entity,” Laken opened another topic. Just the sound of it is enough for them to listen seriously.

“The Dark Entities are strong kind of Nightbeast where the Heavenly Heroes are forced to wipe them out of existence. That's just how dangerous they are as you all witnessed in the Frostsiege Valley,” Laken told.

They faced downward. They still remembered the abomination of a monster they fought.

“I had no idea they started emerging again out of nowhere. What if it has a connection about Nightbeast appearing during the daytime?” Eirisse questions. She went to the table to get another glass of water.

“The answer to the riddle is nothing we can reach. We're not going to stop until we find the answers we needed.” Laken declared in pursuit of the true answers.

“Our main objective is to secure all the Shards of Creation. Let us hope Luciella had the power to use them when the time comes,” Laken believed in her.

Luciella pointed herself. “Me? I don't understand but I will do my best,” she declared enthusiastic.

“Sorry I forgot to answer your question yesterday...” Laken faced Luciella. The three Revenants present in the room stared at Luciella.

“What would we do after we collect all the Shards of Creation? Have you wondered why they are called Shards of Creation in the first place?” Laken answered Luciella with another question.

“Because each represents magic affinity...?” Luciella responded with doubt.

“Well, we don't know... but we think that something could happen if all the Shards of Creation were to be used by someone who can wield it. We believe these tiny little shards could create something far greater...” Laken said in suspension.

Xenon changed the imagery of the reanimated map into a twinkling brilliance of light. It shines so brightly it gives an illusionary heat.

“Far greater...?” Luciella covers part of her eyes to witness what Xenon is showing.

“The Gem of Creation.” The three of them said with an opinion full of hope. Xenon changed it back again to the reanimated map because it expends a lot of energy.

“You mean...” Luciella halted when Eirisse answered what she was about to ask. “We Revenants believe the Gem of Creation will be born if all the Shards of Creation were collected by someone who can wield them,” Eirisse explains.

She checked all her items and stuff to make sure there's nothing she forgot.

Laken went beside Luciella and said. “You're the only one who can use the shards' perpetual powers Luciella. You're the key to the mystery of the world. That's why the three of us will protect you at all costs.” Laken declared and the others agreed.

Eirisse gave Luciella a surprising hug. “Don't worry! Big sis Eirisse will do everything in her strength to protect you too Luciella.” Eirisse is back to her older-sister relationship.

“Eirisse I can't breathe...!” Luciella almost run out of breathing thankfully Eirisse noticed.“S-Sorry!” Eirisse apologizes.

They heard a clanking metal noise from the room. They all knew where it was coming from. “Changing attribute: gentlemen... I shall defend Luciella too, rest assured milady.” Xenon even bowed down like a knight in shining armor.

“Xenon you sounded like an out of place character,” Eirisse told Xenon off. Her grimace is bluntly showing.

“Changing attribute–” Xenon's change attribute was halted when Laken gave him a chopping in the head. He was forced to change back to normal considering Laken knew they'd just argue.

“Anyways, our next goal is to capture the Shard of Flame and Frost that's currently in the Dethrim Kingdom. Let us now get out of this place as soon as possible,” Laken suggests. They all packed their items ready to depart.

“Roger!” The rest agreed.

They are now going to the Dethrim Kingdom. It's located on the Arcadion Continent so the party needs to traverse through the Frostsiege Valley again and arrive at the Frostwolf, a port city to cross the seas.
