Chapter 13 – Finding Quest

1376 Words
When Laken still traveled across the land and seas. He had a very strange friend that he met when he visited the land of Zargon Republic. A country that attained the highest form of technomagic. Wielding the power of energy and machinery at the tips of their finger. No one knows who invented or created them. Not even the Tower of Sorcerers could fathom the Arcanum Core inside the chest of every citizen of the country. All they know is that it's a magical orb that contains magical affinity that surges and manifests the life of the mechanoid whom it is connected to. The mechanoids cannot reproduce the way other races do, instead, at the core of the Zargon capital, there's an Iron Fortress that reproduces the Arcanum Core. It's more likely is the place where they create the machinery body of the mechanoids. There's no telling what's inside the Iron Fortress as it's heavily guarded by a group of strongest mechanoid defenders. It's one of the wonders in the world as most intelligent inventors and archwizards guess what could be occurring inside the fortress or what could be their method of creating such advanced arsenals. In the past, Laken tried to infiltrate the Iron Fortress but instead got kicked out of the country. The one who banished him was Xenon Genesis, the hundredth mechanoid defender designed to watch the Iron Fortress. Circumstances happen, as the twist of the two encounters was unavoidable, they became good friends. Laken was able to brainwash Xenon into traveling the world together with Eirisse. Xenon then abandoned his post to travel the world. He had no emotions at that time. During his adventure together with Laken and Eirisse. He learned so many things such as changing his emotions and developing fighting techniques. He became grows strong as time passes by. Just as the world is wicked when the Dark Wars occurred, even a mechanoid's heart was subjected to the curse of domination. The heart of gold couldn't reject what is been set upon by the wheel of destiny. Along with Laken and Eirisse, the fate Xenon couldn't deny transformed him into a Revenant. As if he became one with the shadows, the pitch-black machinery weapons he had were now part of his internal body. Whenever he stands, the flowers and grasses in the terrain spell lifeless. He never attacks or tries to kill another being, it's the contradiction he fights after becoming a Revenant. When under his Metamorphosis; the moment he tries talking to another reminding them that he's the same as the good Xenon, a loyal mechanoid soldier, what became of those he faced was soulless piles of flesh. There's no voice, nor any soundwave coming from his throat. All die the second he opened his mouth. The minute Xenon escaped his Metamorphosis. He vowed to never enter such a demonic form. He prefers his true self more than anything else. Proceeding the turns of event, Xenon now meets again with Laken. The party's stuck in the snowy mountains so they decided to go to the nearby place to sojourn in the Grayfrost, a village near the Frozen Northlands' border. The party quickly went straight to the inn. They need to book for at least two days and nights at most before proceeding to what they must do. Sadly, the gold coin pouch Luciella had which is full of riches and at least months of use for necessity was left in the sanctuary where Xenon annihilated the domain. She accidentally dropped it when the Heavenly Heroes were chasing them so now they are broke as hell. They lacked the money to spare, together with the single cold coin Luciella had in her pocket and some bronze and silver coin the three had, they were only able to book one room with one bed. Note that Laken's party is a group of four. Xenon was so discouraged to the space of the room as it's only meant for at least two people. There was no choice, Eirisse and Luciella sat on the bed. Laken and Xenon awkwardly held their displeasure. The frustrated Xenon certainly snapped his sanity, “Changing attribute: stupid.” After changing personality, he immediately coughed the five Shards of Creation he stole from the last battle with the Heavenly Heroes. Xenon hid the shards inside his mouth at that time. He just discarded the shards throwing them on the floor like they were some trash. “Are you telling me I just exchanged these good-for-nothing stones for poverty? If only I knew Luciella dropped her gold pouch, I'd get it back instead. I need a lot of mana potions to function properly and now look at us, so poor we can't afford two rooms with comfy beds.” Xenon just continued his rant like there's no tomorrow. “Change your attribute to wise instead!” Laken smacked Xenon's head to shut him for a while. “Ouch! That hurts, I didn't felt it but then I reckon the force would hurt.” Xenon is making a fuss on complaining. Laken picked the Shards of Creation that were on the floor. He handed it to Luciella, “These shards you called stone could be wielded by Luciella.” Laken implies, “Yeah, Luciella was so cool when she harnessed the Shard of Nature,” Eirisse added. At first, Xenon thought he was hearing things, but the creaking noise in his chest could be heard. Switching to another personality again, “Changing attribute: wise... It seems the shards were worth it, so...” He went beside her to observe her from head to core. Luciella felt nervous. “So why won't you teach me how to use it–” Eirisse now gave him a chop on the head, “That's not how you treat a lady Xenon! Listen to what she has to say first.” Eirisse told. She pulled Luciella to her chest to make her comfortable and also to stay away from the mean Xenon. “Now that I remembered... I had a dream of using its power when I slept at your house, Eirisse... But I can't remember anything on how to wield it or whatsoever...” Luciella brooded. Xenon silence himself in the meantime. There's no telling how Luciella went and used the shard. It seems she accidentally harnessed its power inadvertently when she was at the peak of her hope trying to save Laken at that time. “Let's not force her, rather we must focus what's the problem at hand. We should find a job soon so that we can move forward,” Laken implies, “Xenon's useless without mana after all.” He mocked him while he's at it. “I can't just reply on Luciella always, it's time to do what a big sis should!” Eirisse hugged Luciella tight. “Eirisse! I couldn't breathe...” Luciella almost choked to death. “S-Sorry I can't resist your scent.” Eirisse apologized honestly. In reality, she's resisting herself on biting Luciella's neck for good's sake. “I read this place on a book, but where are we right now?” Luciella asked. Her desire for knowledge is essential when traveling. “You see, this place is the Grayfrost Village, part of Frozen Northlands, under the matriarchal family, Geovia." Xenon answered. "The lineage of the ancient barbarians when the mountains were so cold it's impossible to live by, they were the only people who acclimate to the frozen storms it brings,” Eirisse added and explained as Luciella attentively listened. “Amazing, you'd always catch a cold if you live here,” Luciella remarked, “Not at all, the natives aren't called frozen barbarians for the show. They had skins thick enough to protect them from getting frostbite and body stronger than the storm,” Eirisse expounded gesturing in motion. “Oh, that's why the women at the lobby had a masculine statuesque.” Luciella's referring to the woman at the front desk of the inn when they booked for the stay. “Save the chatters for later. You three head to the guildhall to request a job with decent rewards. I'll watch behind.” Laken told them, “And why aren't you joining?” Xenon butted in. “Ah? Have you forgotten my face is drawn in a piece of paper that is being mass-produced on every guildhall?” Laken knocked some senses to Xenon. “Sorry, I forgot so stop twisting my head!” Xenon exclaimed as he's trying to get away on Laken's head grip. The party is on the move. They need to find a job to get sufficient gold for their journey. They are heading to the guildhall on the Grayfrost Village in order to accept a quest and get some generous rewards.
