Chapter 44 – Aerial Chase

The imposter who shapeshifted into Luciella was planning something that might danger her comrades.

Eirisse was approaching the fake Luciella when she came out of the boulder, “Why are you still dressed? Your clothes will be hard to dry at this rate. Remove them now don't be shy,” Eirisse sighed.

She's frolicking and wanted to be the big sister type again when she was surprised Luciella eluded her embrace, “What's the deal Luciella? Sheesh.” Eirisse just kind of simpered.

The real Luciella behind the boulders has no more time anymore as the fake version of her was approaching Xenon.

She tried to touch the device and check how much magic it contains. Presuming if it just exploded under the water she can diminish the damage while healing herself.

It turns out when she examined the device it contains a fire magic affinity that can surpass the might of grand magic, signifying her neck will blast away. It was not easy to deal with.

Her doppelganger now surfaces on the grasses and is advancing where Xenon was taking care of the necessity for their temporal camp, “Oh Luciella, go take a bath now I will not peek I promise.” Xenon drank a vial of a mana potion.

“Hm... I want to see a real squirrel up close; won't you help me find and observe one in the forest?” Luciella's fake asked.

The first expression of Xenon was dumbfounded gawking at her thinking what the hell was in her head.

Xenon stands up with a grin, “What are you waiting for? Let's go.” He chuckled ushering her on the entrance of the deeper part of the forest.

The faker thinks she got the upper hand when Xenon instantly pinpointed his Stargazer in rifle form on her head. The tables have turned at least.

“Based on your shapeshifting capability; you're the newest mechanoid design of the Zargon Republic, isn't it?” Xenon interrogated the deceiver.

The woman promptly removed the shapeshifting effect. She revealed her true form with a light-weight metallic armor. She had mechanical wings and two guns as her arsenal.

She flipped her white hair and glared Xenon with her deep-blue eyes, “Yes.”

“Who are you and what is your goal?” Xenon questions again as Eirisse came to the scene who just noticed the unusual.

“Code name or my name?” She hinted.

“Just your name is okay,” Xenon replied and doesn't know what to comment.

“I'm Sheria.” She answered Xenon's initial question.

“Now tell me your plan, Sheria.” Xenon threatened her with his Stargazer and he will not let her get off the hook until she spills the beans.

“Hey, I got the firewood and mountain boar now–” Laken appeared out of nowhere.

He dropped everything he is carrying and grasp his sword when he saw what's happening between Xenon and a woman with a g*n.

“Tsk, the Bloodless Revenant is here, get the hostage, and get out of here. I repeat get the hostage and get out here.” Sheria sent the messages on the technomagic device on her right arm.

Before Laken could take any kind of action, another two mechanoid defender hovered over and swept Luciella away.

In that instant glimpse of a second, he heard Luciella's scream while they silence her with a piece of fabric on her mouth to keep her from making any noise.

Sheria kicked the muzzle of Xenon's Stargazer and instantly took a flight together with her allies who kidnapped Luciella in tow.

Eirisse was alarmed and couldn't appear to follow how fast things happened when she was just enjoying the stream of waters minutes ago. She got out of the water and put her garments and eyeglasses swiftly.

“I will chase them now!” Laken carried his sword to follow them but Xenon thinks that is a bad idea.

“Mechanoids are faster than asrial’s and harpies when they had their wings at maximum output. We should do an eye for an eye.” Xenon relented and made countermeasures.

“But what about our carriage?” Eirisse tousled her hair panicking.

“We don't have much time. This will cost a large amount of energy but I've got no choice.” Xenon placed his right arm on the carriage and his magic signature pervaded through his Magic Transporter.

“Is that... compression magic?” Eirisse confirmed with her own eyes that what Xenon is chanting is a technomagic version of the compression spell which can minimize the mass of any kind of object.

“I have to go out on a limb right here and now... Maximum Energy Discharge: Compressed Form!” Xenon reformed the carriage back to the medal-like state that had a two-layer magic circle along with the merchandise and their items inside it.

Xenon kept the Magic Transporter and revealed his glorious mechanical wings. Now they won't leave anything important behind.

Eirisse was unhappy because the boar they should cook was left by the riverside.

Xenon took flight and held Eirisse and Laken to chase down the rogue mechanoids who kidnapped Luciella out of the blue.

Cumbersome as it may seem, Xenon let his extending arms to handle both of the two beside him.

He wrapped a thin fiber of rope to not let them be separated or fall just like how he did it when they first escape from the clutch of the five Heavenly Heroes.

Eirisse was flustered and couldn't breathe properly because they are one inch away from kissing.

“A little space, I need.” Eirisse is shuttering while stifling trying not to let her eyeglasses slip away.

They just have to deal with the risky skinship. Xenon takes charge of his Stargazer's rifle form, “We are changing altitude, make sure to be ready.” He is serious and will make sure the rogue mechanoids will regret their choice of choosing Luciella as their target captive.

Xenon burst out his wings at the maximum output until he reached the heights of the clouds. He was hiding his smirk, “Hm, there's no escape now Sheria.”

He decreased the volume of the Stargazer's muzzle and jerked for a shot, “Maximum Energy Discharge: Homing Bullets!” Xenon fired the breath of his weapon.

A rapid-fire of three bullets came flashing in the skyline. Through Xenon's telescopic sensory installed in his eyes; he clearly witnessed the two rogue mechanoid defender's wings destroyed as that is what he wanted to target.

Sheria completely evaded the third bullet and even hovered over to pick up Luciella who is falling.

She still had her hand on her and Xenon discern he needed to quickly change altitudes again to chase her instead of using a cheap air-shot.

There's no way Xenon will let himself lose on a contest in his preferred battlefield as an aerial combat specialist.

He geared up his thrusters while absorbing solar power to boost his flight mode, “Hold each other or else you'll fall this time!” Xenon reminded them what they should do.

Laken held her tightly because they might really drop, “Stay still Eirisse. Don't wriggle too much.” He was certainly oblivious that Eirisse was bashful to their tied-up situation.

“You're the one that is close!” Eirisse's head is in a state of dizziness.

With the speed Xenon has undertaken, he already catches up behind Sheria in a matter of seconds, “Stop this at once Sheria! I would assume I'm the one you're aiming for, right?” Xenon asserted to catch her attention.

He surmises Sheria only kidnapped Luciella when she was alarmed seeing Laken popping out of nowhere. They must have reckoned that he was in the woods finding materials for their camping that was interrupted.

Sheria was having a deep contemplation while soaring through the sky, but that moment she did, that was her downfall when Xenon took the chance by firing his rifle behind and adding the drive to reach her.

“Wha–” she was startled when Xenon grabbed her heel.

“I got you now!” Xenon twists over the air performing a forced sky-dive right through the atmosphere.

Xenon easily defused the device designed to explode on Luciella's neck with his impeccable precision while they are falling.

“No more threat.” He assured and tightly held Sheria's foot as he takes a stance of someone going to throw an object at hand.

“Wait, I think that's a wicked idea.” Sheria remains to be emotionless even at the peak of a pleading situation.

“Maximum Energy Discharge: Unfold Shot!” With all the strength of Xenon concentrated on his arm; he literally hurled Sheria on a nearby forest downward.

A mini crater was formed by the woods near the riverside where she arrived by pure force.

They've now saved Luciella from getting abducted. The party is now heading to where Sheria landed in order for them to interrogate her and get valuable information while at it.
