Chapter Ten It was cooler in the open. We were close enough to the sea for a constant breeze to wash over us. Massive dark shapes far north, the beginnings of the Spine Mountains, blocked out a vast patch of the starry sky. The dark blots petered down to a rough, spiky shore in the northeast, rows of dead trees reaching up into the night, and the midst of them, was the bumpy blotch of what remained of the North Tower. Drinn was lying on the ground, rubbing her legs. She narrowed her eyes at Otsoa. “That spell is horrible.” “Sorry.” He grumbled a cancellation spell over her to dissolve the tethering, and then added something at the end.
