“Is this close enough, or do we have to go in?” I asked. Drinn was already removing the map. “What’s so funny?” She turned to look at me with a quirked eyebrow. “What?” “Why were you laughing?” “I wasn’t laughing,” she replied, snapping the map open. “You don’t hear that?” I looked around for the source of the dry rasping I had assumed was a laugh. It stopped when I turned my head. “Hear what?” She looked around as well, but the three of us were alone under the skeletal trees. “Well, it’s gone now,” I said with a shake of my head. Otsoa climbed up on one of the stones and disappeared into the rubble. “Don’t go too far, I don’t plan to stay here long,” I shouted after him.
