Eric’s POV As the office door shut behind me I could feel my heart sink in my chest. How is it possible my mate is a human? I’ve heard regular wolves having human mates but not a damn Alpha, if I reject her would I even get a second chance mate? I notice my Beta giving me a look before he speaks up. “What’s happening man? You were fine when you left the restaurant.” “She’s my mate, Zane.” I respond, now putting my head in my hands. He lets out a loud laugh whipping his head back, only stopping when he notices my death glare directed towards him. “I’m sorry Eric but-“ he starts. “There’s no way you found your mate dude, the only other wolf here is the old librarian.” He ends with another chuckle. I throw my head back grabbing my hair into my fists before coming back up and putting them onto the table in front of me. “That’s because she’s a human Zane, I don’t know what I’m going to do but I don’t want to think about it now. Let’s just get this done and over with.” A half hour later we have our papers notarized and are on our way back to the the Eclipse pack house. Not being able to concentrate on my surroundings I had Zane drive us back. I can’t stop thinking about her, her scent, the way her eyebrows scrunch up when confused, and those beautiful agate colored eyes. F**k, what was I thinking? I let out a deep sigh. She wasn’t my type at all, every she wolf I’ve been with has been fit, with flawless skin, always looked and dressed to perfection. On the other hand, that’s what made her perfect. She was now my type and no other woman would ever compare to her. Everything about her was perfect and I needed to know more about her, I needed to know everything about her. I needed her, but I can’t have a human Luna the pack would never accept her. Zane steals a glance at me from the drivers seat and sighs before speaking. “You know, the Goddess doesn’t make mistakes. She might be a human but that shouldn’t make a difference, we should try to find her and you should give her a chance before rejecting her. Remember Eric, you need a Luna before your father lets you become Alpha.” He was right, he usually is that prick. I focus all my attention out the window looking at the giant trees as we continue on down the road. ______________________________________ We made it back in time to join Alpha The Eclipse Pack meeting. Alpha James called the meeting to not only celebrate the arrival of Zane and I but also to announce that he will be stepping down from his position as Alpha and Beta Sam’s son will take over becoming Alpha within the next few days. Although the pack mourned the departure of Alpha James, howls and applause filled with room at the announcement of Sam’s son, Cole taking over as Alpha. The house Omegas prepared a large buffet style dinner with a table full of delicate and delicious looking desserts. Many pack members made their way up to introduce themselves to Zane and I through the evening, occasionally I would catch the faintest smell of my mate, knowing she wasn’t here I tried to shack it off. After dinner and some more socializing it was time for the pack run, usually guests wouldn’t join other packs runs but after today Cypress wouldn’t stop scratching at the front of my mind to be let out. I start to strip out of my clothing and stuff them into a tree close to the pack houses back door. I take a step forward into the forest and after a few bone cracking sounds I feel my paws push into the soft soil below. I let Cypress push forward completely in my mind and sit back and watch my wolf run with such a great speed between the dense woods. It felt like hours later when Cypress finds a small creek, he steps in and starts to slowly drink the flowing water. I push forward to take partial control back of my mind and look at our reflection in the water. Due to our alpha blood Cypress is not only taller but built more muscular than a normal wolf. We share the same light brown fur with a gold tint expect on part of our nose and our left front boot which are white patches of fur. I force Cypress to open our eyes and my bright emerald eyes stare back at me, the only difference was when Cypress was in control they’d glow brightly making whatever around us glow with an emerald tint. Cypress always wanted to find our mate, every time I’d mention not being interested he would block me out for a few days. Now I could feel him being torn about finding our mate as well, he wants to go find her and make her ours but he’s afraid of hurting her if the pack decided to reject her. What if she rejects us when she finds out about what I am? Cypress let’s out a huff hearing my thoughts, he shakes out his fur and heads back towards the pack house. We make it to the tree line that’s on the back side of the house, I shift behind the tree my clothes were stuffed in and put them back on before heading to my room to take a shower. Alpha James mind links me asking for Zane and I to meet him in his office to finish up with some documents. Within the hour we’re finished up and Alpha James thanks us both for all of our hard work and generosity. “Hey, do you by chance know any of the humans in town?” I ask Alpha James. “Not really no, I tend to keep just to the pack and only visit the places owned by Eclipse when I go into town. Why is there someone you’re looking for?” He questions me with a curious look. I silently shake my head trying to figure out how to find my mate again. “I can ask a few of the shop owners if they’ve seen who you’re looking for Alpha” James starts. “Other than them the only one who really sees some humans is Mrs. Heroux who watches a human child.” We finish up and I ask James if I would be able to stay at the pack house until the Alpha Ceremony at the end of the week. James was more than welcoming and excited for my Beta and I to join the celebration. He tells us to let him know if he could be of help in any type of way and we say goodnight. Zane and I go back to my guest room and I flop down face first onto the bed letting out a long grunt before turning onto my back staring at the ceiling above me. “I don’t know what to do man, what if the pack doesn’t accept a human Luna?” I ask Zane. “I’m not sure, but before you even worry about that you have to find her again first.” He says taking a seat on the couch across the room. “I don’t even know where to begin to find her, I don’t even know her name Zane.” I say, now sitting on the edge of the bed with my face in my hands. Zane stands from the couch and makes his way over to me putting a hand on my shoulder. “I’ll get the names of all the packs shop owners and we’ll start from there tomorrow Eric, get some sleep dude.” He says before leaving the room. I go into the closet and change into a pair of gray sweatpants and climb into bed. I can see Cypress curled up and letting out soft whimpers in my mind. I know dude, I promise you I’ll find her. No matter what she’ll be home with us by the end of the week. I say to Cypress in my mind. I’m not sure how much time had passed, my mind was running a million miles an hour as I tossed around in my bed. Sleep finally embraced me as I thought of her delicious scent. Lemongrass and lavender, with a hint of peach.
