Ashton exhaled and said, "I don't know, dude. He was at the bar talking to an attractive woman when I last saw him. I don't know where they went after that," his father shook his head in disappointment. “Ashton, it's vital that you understand the seriousness of this. Alpha Dominik will banish us."
He leaned back and touched his face. “This is utterly ridiculous. Bailey is an adult. I'm not his personal life coach. I can't babysit him through every decision." Rico shot him a knowing look, implying, "No surprise there. You're just a self-centred jerk."
"Easy there, Beta Rico," Ashton snapped back.
Rico scornfully questioned, “Why did Bailey's assistant call me to inquire regarding his location?” he raised his eyebrow.
Rico's phone rang, prompting him to step outside and answer it. He never came back.
"Ashton, if something happens to Bailey...how will the other pack members view us? How could you do this to us?" Ashton rolled his eyes and replied, "Mother, you're overreacting. Chances are, he's having a good time with that woman."
"For goodness sake, are you really that naive? Why would Beta Rico question you if he's away having..."
Sasha phoned him to demand an explanation for not notifying her about Bailey's abduction. “What do you mean?" Ashton questioned. "Lisa mentioned her father and others being summoned. Bailey's kidnapping was captured on surveillance footage. Seriously? How did you allow that? You were meant to..." He ended the call.
His parents looked at him. “You ruined everything we tirelessly built—all because of your selfishness. Your performance deserves applause!" she exited the lounge dramatically, leaving despair behind.
"you—It is widely known that you have been influencing Bailey to engage in actions that serve your interests," his father's statement caught him off guard. “You're wrong, Dad, we both..." "Stop it, Ashton. "I refuse to listen to anything you say." He stormed off in anger.
He rose and went to the rec to chill and unwind. The atmosphere was abuzz with discussion surrounding Bailey's abduction.
