I know I should confess everything to Jay, tell him why I think Sykes might have murdered Nancy… because I have no doubt that Sykes killed her… but it’s all simply gut feelings, and I have more pressing concerns. I need to get Peta and possibly the other children out of Blackrock city. Jay can’t help me with that, but Sterling can.
Besides, if Jay knows what I suspect, he’ll want to protect me, question me, keep me secure, and I don’t have time for that sort of nonsense right now. The children have to come first. For me, they always come first.
