Derrick’s frown grew into an incensed scowl. “You destroy the phone?”
Sparkle nodded. “The Victim was Valentino’s father, the girl she was protecting at the school,”
Derrick swore under his breath.
Sparkle stroked a hand over the tangle of Josh’s hair, feeling useless. He felt so much, cared too much. She had no idea how to help him through this.
“Since I’ve got my hands full, will you call Albert for me?”
“You lucky b***h. Sure.” He connected to Albert using the hands-free device and gave her the update, keeping the call off speakerphone for Josh’s sake.
“He’s still busy,” Derrick said a few moments later. “She’ll have to call you back when we get to the hotel.”
