Chapter 29

Lucy POV The doctor’s declaration lingers in the air like fog. Nana completed the signing of the documents. Nana is alive. My stomach drops, my happy tears turn into droplets. Will quickly wraps his arms around me. He gazes at the doctor, his eyes wide, filled with a mix of rage and fear at the time. “Where is Hillary?” he asked, his voice shaking despite trying to remain composed. “The ambulance had left ten minutes earlier, and nobody was aware of the hospital.” The doctor replied calmly. Bella covers her mouth with her hand as hot tears slide down her cheeks. Grey face turns white, and he collapses heavily onto the ground as his knees buckle. I start feeling my legs shaking. Will guided me gently to the bed and knelt close to me. He held my hands gently and patted them. He gazes intensely into my eyes. “I swear to you, my darling, that I would locate him," he declares, tears bubbling under his eyelids. “I will ensure your father arrives safely.” He softly plants a kiss on every one of my fingers separately as though they were jewels. I acknowledge with a nod. I tremble inwardly because Nana is more severe than any creature. Bella sits beside me, holding my hand firmly. She repeatedly says, “Sorry.” Her voice fractures, like fragile ice. Grey. Lays his head upon my knee and sobs quietly. Will stands up fast and wipes his face with the back of his hand. He instructs Raymond over the phone to take the car away. His voice has regained its strength. His hands continue to shake as he drops the call. He helps me put on shoes and a warm jacket when my fingers aren’t working. After putting on a pair of shoes and a warm jacket, we left the hospital clinging to one another. Will assisted me since my legs were still shaking and fragile, as if they were composed of jelly. A dull stride, with arms moving forth on each side as if they must confirm my genuineness. The night air is chilly. It brushes against my face. Will’s chest is cozy. Raymond was positioned beside the vehicle. He swiftly opens the doors. Will puts me in the back seat and climbs in next to me. Bella and Grey squeeze in too, so we are one big crying pile. Will directs Raymond to proceed to the Jones Group building, where smoke continues to rise. The car rides fast through empty streets. Will keeps kissing my hair and rocking me softly. He softly assures me that every problem will be fixed. I trust him because his tone is filled with kindness. Bella leans her head on my shoulder. She holds my hand tightly as though she plans to keep it. Following that, we visit the building. Depart carefully. The air holds a fragrance, and small flickering embers continue to glow. Will firmly grasps my hand while we make our way through the chaos. He looks for indications with a flashlight while sitting inside the car. Bella spots a gleaming phone lying on the ground close to the entrance. She lifts it cautiously. The screen illuminates, presenting a warning. The image shows Daddy resting in a hospital bed with tubes attached to him. Below the picture, the caption states: "Come alone or he won't ever wake up again.” My knees give way. Will grabs me right as I begin to collapse. He gazes at the image. His expression changes, turning into one of a tempest. He pulls me nearer, and I sense his heart beating rapidly. He asserts that no matter the situation, we will move forward united as one. Grey slowly raises the phone. Pushes the keys. He discovers a map displaying a red dot traveling along the path. He mentions that the ambulance is Daddy's and that it is rapidly heading in a direction. Will kisses my forehead and helps everyone back into the car. “Trace the dot.” He orders Raymond as we cling to the car's speed. I sit down on Will’s lap while he throws his jacket around both of us. The red dot stops moving on the phone and suddenly stops in the middle of a street. Grey zooms in on the map, revealing a house without any lights. Will's expression becomes quite grave. “Switch off the vehicle's lights.” He instructs Raymond, and we proceed quietly and softly like mice to ensure no one notices us. We leave the vehicle behind. Stroll through the street holding hands. Will remains close while twigs graze my legs. Bella and Grey remain near. We all breathe out softly. The old structure looks spooky, featuring its panes and curling creepers. Will softly calms me. We look outside through a window. A nurse cares for Dad as he lies back on a bed. The nurse carries a bag. She was inserting needles into Daddy’s arm. I sense sorrow within my chest because Daddy looks small and sick. ”Exercise caution and avoid hurrying.” Will said calmly He assigns Grey and Bella the responsibility of securing the doors. He grasps my hand, and we move toward the window that's ajar. At first, he lifts me. I move gently, resembling a kitten. I gently approached Daddy, lightly placing my hand on his. His eyes move gradually. He smiled at the movement when he saw me standing next to him. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he tried to speak; only faint noises emerged. My lips gently press against his fingers. “I love you, Father,” I whispered. Will climbs in after me and stands by the door with a finger on his lips. The nurse instantly notices us, and her eyes widen quickly. She releases the needle. It glides across the floor, and she rushes toward the door. Will gently seize her. Place his hand over her mouth. The nurse. Weeps softly. “Who settled the bill?” Will asked, and she pointed at a phone resting on the table. Will grabs it and hits play on a video; Nana’s face fills the screen as she smiles mischievously. “Hello all, " Nana said in the video. “If you happen to be seeing this Daddy uses medicine every hour.” “Bring me the gold drive and come alone Lucy. Dad never gets up." I sob deeply as I grasp Daddy’s hand firmly. Will hugs me from behind and rocks me softly. His tears dripped onto my hair while he quietly said that we would deceive her. His gaze seems intense regardless of the situation. The bedroom door gradually squeaks as a boy with hair enters, rubbing his eyes. He resembles how Will appeared in his days. He clutches a teddy bear. Gazes at us with his eyes. The little boy quietly states, "Mommy said you were coming.” She requested that I pass this message along to you. He offers a present wrapped with a bow. I stare at Will with my mouth wide open. Will’s complexion pales to a hue. His entire body begins to tremble. He drops to His knees, before the boy tears streaming down his face. “Andrea Junior," Will said, in the fractured voice I have ever encountered. “My son?”
