Adrian snorted a laugh. “Hesitate? I am just stunned, Major General. Your name. It’s worth much more than priceless jewels. How can I accept such an honour?”
Charles was relieved when he heard that.
He slapped his knees emphatically, saying, “Even if you don’t want it, you must accept it. I don’t throw my name around for just anyone, I tell you. Accept it and I don’t want to hear any more about how you are not worthy. Who else can make me do this then?” he said gruffly.
Secretly glad that Adrian would become more like family, he affected a slightly annoyed expression.
