PORTFOLIO

I'm already inside of the elevator. Good thing I'm all alone , it seems like no one is going in the elevator anymore as it is closing slowly. I did not hesitate to fart 

Pinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnk-----(sound of fart)

when someone suddenly stops the closing of the door of the elevator.

I got startled that cause me to fart loud

Poot!

Wait, what?! DID I JUST FART IN FRONT OF THIS MAN!!!!

I looked up to see his reaction, I can see how shocked he was based on his expression, yet he still entered the elevator.

I’m so embarrassed about what happened, I could not do anything but look down. I just want to disappear from my position, I could not look at him anymore.

Oh come on, I'm just heading to the second floor, why does it feel like the time is in slow motion.

I tried to restore my composure and pretend nothing happened, then finally the elevator opened its door and I immediately ran away.

I ran towards the room where Kiley was, when she saw me in the door, she went out of her room.

“What’s wrong? Why are you so pale? Did you encounter a ghost?” kiley asked me

“If you only knew what happened, how I wish it was just a ghost, but it is not!, well anyway here are my notes , just give it back to me later when you get home” I told Kiley before I left .

I ran to the hall as I still have a group study with Ric, Mae and Ryan in the library. They have been there since the end of our morning class.

the library are located near on the cafeteria, outside of our building, I used the stairs as I am afraid to meet again that guy, I'm still ashamed of what happened, hopefully I would not meet him again.

but in fairness that guy does have a good look, he has fair skin, he is tall but he has a cold expression. Seems like that guy is not sociable.

As I enter the library, I tap my identification card on the sensor to record my log in the library. My friends texted me that they are in the corner of the literature section so, as I read their message, I headed there quickly.

When I arrived at their table, I saw one of our masters.

Oh right, I have not explained to you the culture of our department. In the mechanical engineering department, we have to call our seniors and even juniors a master. It is like our call sign to know whether you are a mechanical engineering student or not.

Today,  master Jay, who is with my friends, is our senior whom we met in one of our major subjects. Yes sometimes we do get a chance to have a senior in our class as some of them are irregular students or students who need to retake the subject or a working student.

"good morning master Jay ", i greeted to him

"oh ja, hi good morning"- master Jay

"master, may I know what brings you here? I thought you are on your on the job training? I was so shocked to see you! they said that all of our seniors masters are on the job training this whole semester" - ja

"well, yes, it is true that we must be in our on the job training this whole semester, but the problem is, there is no company who wants to hired me as their intern '-jay

"what? why?" - ja

"simply as my background and resume is not competent enough!, I already applied in a big and small company here in Batangas but no one ever contacted me or give me an email that they are hiring me as their intern, so I don't have any choice but to go the capital (in Manila) since there are much more company there and there is also a much bigger opportunity there to find a job after the graduation. " -jay

"What will happen if you still do not get a company to intern with?"- ja

'then I can not graduate in this year, I have to extend another semester" - jay

"what???!' -ja

'That is why you should build a good portfolio and resume while you still have time, do not waste your time on those silly things, attend more seminars and if you can, it would be great if you will be part of an organization as you can also write it in your profile. Outside world is not easy, more companies are usually looking for competent engineers, it is not enough that you will say in every interview that you are diligent and willing to learn, your records must always back up your words. if you say that you are a hardworking person, then they will be looking for your accomplishments on your resume "- jay 

"then master, I'm doomed" -ja

"why? don't you have a good background?"- jay

"I have not attended any seminars since freshman year "- ja

"Hey! seriously? then you do have a big problem, if you did not attend any kind of seminars in your past 3 years here in university, then surely your portfolio and resume is much worse than mine!"- jay

"hey do not be like that master, besides I'm not alone right guys?"- ja

"I attended a national mechanical engineering conference last year "- Mae said

"well Ric and I attended the same national conference last summer "- Ryan

"what?! Why did I not know? Why didn't you tell me?!" - ja

"sis, as far as I remember we told you haha, when I attend it last year I asked you if you want to join but you are so busy watching korean dramas and you said that maybe you will join in the other year, then last summer, when we are all in our own hometowns, Ric and Ryan was about to go to the national conference but you got sick so you could not join them, probably, your only chance would be next year on our seniors years." - Mae said

"in other words, all of you do has a big problem, I'm telling you, you need to build a good and competent portfolio that would stand out when you apply in certain company" - jay

"especially you!", master jay said while pointing at me

"Why don't you try to apply as the new third year governor? I heard that the position will be vacant from next week. You can write on your portfolio the accomplishments and the position as being an officer in an organization. "- Jay

"and as the rest, you can join seminars from other university that is a sister organization of MESL, I heard there are other organizations who are offering a seminars and trainings even if you are from different university"- jay

"yes master, we will keep that in mind" -Ric said

after that conversation, master Jay left as he still need to prepare for his intern application in Manila

"What should I do? "- I asked on them

"How about you try what master Jay said, go and apply fo the position of being the new third year governor? "- Ryan suggested

"I agree with them ja, all of us do have a national conference certificate, but how about you? it would be hard to build a good portfolio if you will not take this chance" - Ric said

well do I have a choice?
