Serena stumbled again, her defensive stance completely compromised. One of the instructors swept her legs, and she crashed to the mat hard.
But the drill wasn't over.
In advanced Alliance combat training, scenarios didn't stop just because you fell. They escalated, simulating real battlefield conditions where enemies didn't wait for you to recover.
The second instructor lunged forward with a training blade, following proper protocol for the drill Serena had initiated.
But Serena didn't know the counter-sequence. She scrambled backward, panic clear on her face, directly into the path of the first instructor who was rising behind her and standing just beyond the combat circle, observing the demonstration with his typical detached interest, was Callum Green.
