"So if this hadn't happened today, were you planning to never contact me again?"
I fell silent for a moment,
"I'm sorry," I said finally.
"No need to apologize," he replied, his tone warming slightly. "I told you before—whatever you ask, I'll do it. No questions asked. You were one of my best officers, Kira. That doesn't just disappear because you resigned your commission."
I finally exhaled in relief as I heard him already issuing orders to someone else in the background.
"I'm coordinating with Alliance enforcement now," he said, coming back to me. "They'll handle the evacuation under the guise of a safety drill. Earthquake and fire protocols. Get yourself and Green out of that building."
