"Damon, what do you mean by that?" Serena demanded immediately, "You don't trust me? Just because of what Kira said before she left?"
Her wolf was clearly agitated beneath the surface, radiating defensive tension.
"Serena, I just want to understand what actually happened during that border conflict," I said quickly, trying to explain without escalating the situation.
"What happened is perfectly clear," Serena said, her voice taking on an edge that suggested wounded pride. "I found you in the river after the rogue attack and pulled you out. Then the healers transported you to the medical facility for emergency treatment. Multiple wolves witnessed all of that."
