I could see suspicion flash across Damon's face, his eyes narrowing as he looked between me and the retreating vehicle.
Vivian jumped on the opportunity. "Damon, I've been telling you she's been acting suspicious! Who knows how long this has been going on? A mated female getting personally escorted home like that by one of the Alliance's most powerful Alphas?"
Before I could respond, Margaret appeared from inside the building, her face twisted with fury. "What did you say? Kira is having an affair?!"
Enraged, Margaret rushed forward and raised her hand as if to slap me across the face.
"I'm telling you right now, you're severing the mate bond immediately!" she shrieked.
Before her hand could connect with my cheek, I caught her wrist firmly, stopping the strike.
