I looked at Callum in surprise, my heart skipping a beat before I forcibly steadied it.
"Won't you reconsider my offer to become my personal security advisor?" Callum asked.
Oh. That was what he meant.
Relief flooded through me, followed immediately by embarrassment at whatever I'd briefly thought he might be implying.
"I already told you before, Alpha Green, I'm not interested in that position right now," I replied, keeping my voice professional. "Besides, you already have an excellent security detail who can protect you perfectly well."
The elevator continued its smooth descent, the floor numbers ticking down steadily.
"But if it were you," Callum said quietly, his gaze never leaving my face, "no matter what danger we faced, you'd never abandon me, would you?"
