Chapter 11

1037 Words
Lotus POV~~ I'm running again, a wolf darting through the trees. This time, I'm running for the feel of it. I'm not being chased, I'm not running out of time. I'm just running. For a moment, the flash of a black wolf dashing beside me, and then he's gone. This dream feels different. The moonlight is brighter, and it feels like someone's trying to tell me something. I keep running and running until I come to the cliff. This time, without hesitating, I jump into the water below. When I opened my eyes, I'm human again. Antonio is there, and we're goofing off in a clearing. The sun is shining. Moments later, the sun darkens, and I look up. It's an Eclipse. Looking back at my surroundings, I'm in what looks like a coliseum. Thousands of people are in the bleachers, and Kai is crouched, ready to attack. I spin around on my heel just in time to see Thompson's wolf. It's large, easily twice the size of Kai, and gray, with cream colored patches. He bounds over my head at him. "No!" I shout. Kai leaps to the side and gets grazed by Thompson's paw. At least it looked like a graze. Blood starts pooling around Kai's leg, and he wobbles. Thompson looks over his shoulder at me, a gleam in his eye. Lunging at Kai, going for his throat. "Antonio!" I scream, and everything goes black. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ "No!" Jolting up from the position I had fallen into, I realize I'm once again in the cell. The chains have begun to burn my wrists, and my back and neck are hurting from leaning against the wall. I have no idea how much time I have before Antonio has to be here. Not that I think they'd tell me if he was here. I sit in silence, no longer able to sleep. It feels like forever goes by before I hear the lock to the door click and it swing open. Isobel walks in with a tray. I spring to my feet and wait for her to close the door. Instead of the usual soup, there is a cheeseburger and fries with a soda. Just looking at it, my mouth begins salvating. "Whats this? Some kind of last meal?" She nods and brings the tray to the cot. Placing a finger to her lips, she shows me a small key beneath the napkin. Our eyes meet, and there's sadness in hers. "Thank you." I whisper, giving her a small smile. I devour the burger, leaving only grease on the plate. Grabbing the key and turning it over, I wonder what happened to Isobel's voice. As the thought crosses my mind, the door slams open, and I quickly pocket the key before anyone sees it. "You have fifteen minutes before nightfall. You were so sure he'd be here for you. Such a pity." Thompson's voice drips with cruel excitement. "You think you've already won. He has fifteen minutes. He'll be here." I state defiantly. He burst into laughter. The sound of running comes down the hall. A guard appears beside him and whispers in his ear. "What?!" He roars, turning on his heel and walks away. Everyone leaves, Isobel giving me another sad look before closing the door softly behind her. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Antonio POV~~ Darting between the trees, racing against the sun, I see the castle wall a few meters away. "We're almost there." I link to Sebastian. Pushing more power into my legs, I almost leave him behind. "We're going to make it. You don't have to speed off." I feel the eye roll more than see it. I chuckle. "Doesn't mean I'm not going to." "Can you feel her yet? We're close enough that you should be able to. Unless they've dosed her with wolfsbane." Kai growls at the thought of them poisoning her. "No. But I'll figure it out." "Alright, man. You've gotta tell me. You really met the Goddess?" I hear the disbelief. "Yes. she had pale pale skin and silver eyes and hair. It was. Amazing." I have no other words that can describe what I saw. We're closing in on the gates now. About a mile out, we begin to hear shouting. "Three wolves inbound. Sir, what should we do." "Three?" "Hey, guys. I followed you," Kylee's sheepish voice rings in our heads. I growl at her. "Kylee. Go back. Tell mom and dad we made it." "UGH. Fine. But you owe me big time." She turns around and leaves us. "Let them through." Thompson's voice rings out from atop the wall as moments later we run through the gates. Stopping, I turn to see the sun's final rays sink behind the horizon. A servant brings us each a change of clothes, and we shift quickly dressing. "Antonio. I didn't expect to see you tonight." "You took my mate. She asked for my help. Of course I'm here." I state, shortly. "Speaking of my beautiful niece," he smirks, like he's telling a joke," Would you like to see her tomorrow morning before your fight? A kind of... Goodbye if you will." That's the arrogance the Goddess was speaking of. "I will see her. But for now, I need to rest. That run took a lot out of me." I atempt to seem as tired as possible. I'm trying to let him think I am weak, and it seems to work. He outright laughs. "Of course! Isobel, show them to a room. Make sure they're.. Comfortable." He chuckles again as he walks away, hands gently clasped behind his back. He really does think he'll win. We follow the girl to a room in the lower levels. It's a bare room, with two beds and hardly any furniture. "This is comfortable?" Seb questions, raising an eyebrow. "Seems like a dungeon." I look at the girl, and her head is hung low. She glasses up and nods silently. "That's because it is. we're not his guests. We're his enemies. Fine by me. Thank you, Isobel." I say kindly. Her head snaps to look at me, and she smiles ever so softly. She leaves, and we hear the door lock behind her. This is just phenomenal.
