Chapter 3

1037 Words
Antonio POV~~ I have been pacing my room for an hour. Replaying the events of the dress shop over in my head. Hearing her words replay, her laugh. Her smile keeps running through my mind. "I wish she'd been smiling at me," I think. "Well, maybe she would have if you'd told her she's our mate." Kai huffs at me. He was less than thrilled when I refused to let him run up to her and take her in our arms immediately. "She lives in the human world. She probably doesn't even know what she is, you idiot." I snap back. "Maybe we can get her alone tonight. Then we'll tell her." I think running my hands through my hair and down my face. "You better hope this works." Kai stalks to the edge of my mind. Taking the opportunity of his silence, I go and get ready myself. Once I'm ready, I hear my father mind link me. "Come to my office. We need to talk." I sigh, and head straight there. The office that will someday soon be mine. The walls are a pale blue with two bookshelves that reach the ceiling standing on either side of the captians desk in the middle of the room. There are several chairs in the large office and a single love seat positioned in front of the large bay window overlooking the pond in the front yard. It's a rather large house, but it has to be to home the entire pack if the need ever arises. My father is sitting behind the desk when I walk in going through some paperwork. Soon, I will be the one flipping through pages and pages of documents to keep the pack in order. Sitting in the chair directly across from my dad, I wait patiently for him to finish what he's doing. When he does, he sets his pen down, takes off his glasses, folds his hands, and looks at me. "So, you found her. But from what I understand, she knows nothing of the Mate Bond nor what she is. Am I correct?" As usual, straight to the point. His tone, however, isn't cross; it's concerned. I sigh. "From what I can tell, yes. But I have a plan to approach her at the party tonight." I tell him. "Is Kai in agreeance with this plan of yours?" He knows exactly how stubborn Kai can be. "No. But I'm still going to let you try it." He huffs. "Honestly. He's somewhat agreeable. He's going to let me try. I just hope it goes well. For all our sakes." My dad nods in slight approval. "Good. I want you to tell your mom and your siblings the plan. That way, if it goes wrong, there can be someone, who ever's nearby, who can catch her and try and help explain. This is going to be a difficult task, seeing as how we know what she is, but she does not." "I understand. Although I do have a question. Her scent. Underneath the Mate Bond scent, there's something... Unique. I can't quite put my finger on it, but she doesn't smell like an average wolf." He nods, immediately understanding what I'm referring to. He scented it too when she came. I guarantee it. "Lycan blood. She's a royal. We have to keep that quiet for as long as possible. Tell no one. For if He finds out, there could be war." Kai surfaces for a moment and growls at the thought. "War? Why would He want to go to war over another royal." "That's a story for another time, son. Your focus should be on meeting your Mate. And convincing her she belongs here with us. With you." ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Lotus POV~~ Natasha and Kylee had been fussing over my hair and makeup, and which shoes would match my dress for the last hour. I'm not quite sure why they're being so nice to me. Their house is huge. I was brought straight to Natasha's room as hers was the larger of the two. They were asking all kinds of questions. Where I came from, what my interests are. The most recent question was about my parents. I'm unsure of how to answer. "I don't have parents. I grew up in group homes and foster care." I finally say quietly. Both of them stop and look at each other. The silence is deafening. "Hey, it's no big deal. It's just how it is for me." I shrug. Kylee is the first to respond. "I'm so sorry. I can't imagine what it would be like if I didn't have my parents or my siblings." She says quietly. Natasha nods in agreement. "Well, I mean, I wasn't alone or anything. I had loads of other kids who didn't have parents that I lived with." Trying to make them feel better about my situation only makes it worse. "Excuse me a moment." Kylee put the pins in her hands down and walks quickly to the bathroom, shutting the door behind her. "She's never heard of parentless children before. She just needs a couple minutes." Natasha explains. Just as I'm about to apologize, I see Natasha's eyes glaze over in the mirror. Almost like she's lost in thought. Turning to look back at her with a puzzled look on my face, a chill runs up my spine. Something feels off. "Natasha? Is everything ok?" Maybe this is what I looked like in the dress shop. It would explain why Marianne was so concerned. Natasha doesn't react for a good minute. When her eyes come back to focus she looks back at me and smiles. "Sorry about that." "That's OK. You alright?" I question, clearly concerned. "Oh, of course," and with no explanation she continues with my hair. Just then,Kylee bursts out of the bathroom with my dress. "It's tiiiiime," she says, in a sing-song tone. I smile at her. "This place is strange." I think to myself. "Kylee, calm down. You're going to scare her." I chuckle. "It's fine. There was another girl at my group home that was just as excitable. I'm used to it." Relief floods Natasha's face and she smiles back at me.
