Chapter 2 - Heartbroken

Damien’s POV

Walking in silence, waiting to see if the tension will be broken. Tal ends up starting the conversation.

“So what did you want to talk about”

“Us, Tal you mean so much to me but..”

Her eyes starting to water, please don’t cry.

“But.. I can’t do what you have asked and I don’t want to lead you on anymore than I have. I think it’s best we end our relationship and when my birthday comes we can see if we are fated mate and if not I would like you to be happy for me and still be one of my close friends.”

Talulah didn’t say anything, she was just staring at me. I didn’t know what what else to say.

“Tal..”

“Don’t Damien, I get it. You don’t love me enough to choose me as your mate. I need time”

With that she ran home and left me standing there. I decided to just go home and get some sleep.

*next morning*

5.30am.. I roll out of bed after my alarm goes off ready for training. I mind link the group to tell them I’ll meet them downstairs in 10 minutes.

I throw of some joggers and T-shirt, nothing fancy as we was training in wolf form today. I threw some spare clothes in my gym bag and put on my new trainers from Jazzy on. I drank my pre work out and went down to meet everyone.

When I got out the lift, everyone was there apart from Tal. I’m not surprised she wanted some time. Jasmine looked at my shoes and smiled. She has a gorgeous smile, she’s gorgeous all over but she’s my best friend.

“Hey man, where is tal?” Luca looking at Damien with a concerned look

“Youse will find out eventually..” before I could finish Jasper jumps in “she’s pregnant”

“No, that was be careless. Anyway we actually slept together just foreplay. I’ve had to end things with her and she has asked for some time.”

Luca and Jasper exchanged a look and didn’t say anything but jasmine looked at me with worry in her eye. “Are you okay” she has always looked out for me. “ yeah of course, just don’t tal to be hurting”

With that we walked to training, when we got there tal was there but she was stood with some of the others. She didn’t look at me once.

Talulahs POV

I didn’t sleep much but I had training. I got up and put on the nearest gym set. I didn’t want to see anyone from the group so I went to training on my own.

When they arrived I couldn’t look at any of them specially Damien. Jasmine mindlink me asking if I was okay, I just replied “eventually” she gave me a worried looked and started to walk over to me. Before she could get to me, Beta Jack, started the training. We was training in our wolf form today, my wolf aspen is so happy after last night she needed to let off some steam. She was so angry more because she let me fall for him than anything else. Beta put us all into groups and I was kind of happy when he asked me to lead a group which meant I could avoid him.

We went out to large field behind the centre which went onto a massive forest, all within our borders. After putting my group through a intense training session, I led them back to the centre, gave them all feedback and beta then blew his whistle to tell us training had finished.

I didn’t want to see anyone so I went straight and skipped breakfast at the dining hall.

Jasmines POV

I tried to talk to Tal but training started and she was put in a different group. I was going to talk to her at the end but she left before I could get the chance. I tried mindlinking her but she didn’t reply this time. So I just headed to the dining hall.

“Jazzy wait up”

Damien slowly jogged to catch up with me, putting me in a headlock.

“Arghh get off me you stink”

“You love it” putting his armpit in my face. I push him away.

When we get to the dining hall, they had a omelette station with sides of bacon, sausage and hash browns. I was in heaven. I grabbed a plate and piled it high, getting a bottle of water on my way to the table.

Damien and Luca was sat down already eating. Luca was asking million questions about the break up.

“Luca leave it be, it’s between Damien and Tal. No one else”

Luca signs but shuts up. Damien gives me a thank you smile. I just started to eat and noticed he was staring at me with a smile. I don’t know what’s going on with him. After my breakfast I head upstairs to get a shower and get changed as I had training with my dad on beta stuff which meant being by the alphas side all day so a full day of paper work and being with Damien.

After my shower I pick out some of my more smart casual clothing and put my hair up in a ponytail and little make up. I go up to the alpha floor and knock on Alpha Masons office door, I was quickly greeted by my dad opening the door “hey kiddo, ready for your day”

“Yeah dad, I’m ready to learn” stepping into the office I bow my head to show respect to the alpha “good morning alpha”

“Good morning Jasmine, you don’t have to bow now that you are becoming beta in over a month. Before I could reply, Damien walks in, in his buttoned shirt and smart trousers. I hardly see him dressed so smart. He looks good.. ew what why am I thinking like that. I shake it off and turn back to the alpha and my dad.

“First thing is we will go through all the different documents and logs we have to keep to ensure the pack is kept in order”

I knew this was going to be a long day, I sat down on the chairs in front of the desk and the training began.

*5 hours later*

I have read about 50 different documents all being at least 100 pages along. My head is full of new information, I need to lie down. When we are dismissed, I’m walking towards the lift when Damien shouts me “jazzy”

I roll my eyes at the nickname “yes Damien”

“Wanna hang out?”

“Yeah sure, let me go get changed and I’ll meet you in the cinema room! You can bring the snacks!”

I get in the lift and I go straight to my room to get changed, I throw on a pair of gym shorts and an oversized hoody with my crocs. I’m about to leave when my mum shouts me, “hello darling, how was training?”

“It was good mum, learnt a lot”

“Where you off too?”

“To hang out with Damien”

She didn’t say anything but give me a look as if she was really happy about me spending time with him. I didn’t say anything else, gave her a hug and headed to the cinema room. When I arrived Damien was already there looking through the films “hey don’t be picking a bad one”

“Oh hey jazzy, action film sound good?”

“Yeah more action the better”

I settled in the seat next to him and pulled the blanket over my lap, I felt a little nervous next to him, I didn’t know why but tried to shake it off. He started the film and put my snacks on my lap, he had got my favourites white chocolate and Doritos. We ended up watching 2 films before we was gate crashed by Luca, Jasper and his weekly fling. She was a low warrior, she was the type to flaunt herself at any given chance and sleep with anyone to get higher in ranking. I think her name is lexi, She gave me a dirty look when she sat down next to Jasper, I just laughed at her which annoyed her more.

“What’s funny” I was surprised she had the balls to say anything.

“Oh just you thinking that you are intimidating, your dirty looks won’t work on me”

Damien pauses the film, she rolled her eyes and tried to snuggle into Jasper who was looking at me.

“Just remember you wouldn’t even be allowed in here if you wasn’t with Jasper”

With that comment, Jasper tried to intervene but Damien bit his head off.

“Jasper get your she Wolf in line, she has just tried disrespecting the future beta of this pack”

With that Jasper told her to leave. She put up a fuss and then finally stormed out the room not before giving me another look. Jasper apologised which wasn’t needed, neither was Damien sticking up for me. I could stand my own ground.

After watching another film with the lads, I decided I was going to go back to my room and do some additional reading on the stuff from training. When I got to my room, I was getting into the documents that I didn’t realise I had been hours and had missed dinner. I decided I would go get take out instead giving the kitchen staff any additional work.

I grab my keys, purse and head to my car. I mindlink my dad to let him know. As I’m about to get in my car, luca runs up to my car.

“Hey where you going?”

“Didn’t eat dinner so I’m going to get food “

“Can I come”

“Yes jump in”

I decided to go to a drive through as it was easier, ordered my food and waited. Luca was making small talk, he was funny and always good to me.

On the way home with the food, we did carpool karaoke, we was singing at the top of our lungs. When we got back to pack house with the food,decided to eat it in the dining hall. We was still singing and laughing when we bumped into Damien and Jasper.

“Hey where you two been”

“To get food”

Luca was still on a high “don’t forget the carpool karaoke”

“Oh yeah that too”

Damien kind of looked jealous. I didn’t think too much into it.

“Got enough food if you want to join”

They followed us to dining hall and we all sat down and ate the food making small talk.

Damien POV

After spending the afternoon with Jasmine, I didn’t know what to do so I went to the gym with Jasper. When we down to the dining all and there was no sign of Jasmine, I tried to mind link but she had her block up so she wasn’t disturbed. So I left her alone. After eating me and Jasper went to the small bar on the alpha floor for a drink.

“Wonder where Luca is?”

That was a good point I hadn’t seen or heard from luca. So we went to go look for him, we thought he would be in the common room but as we was walking down the corridor he walked in with Jasmine. I couldn’t help but feel jealous that he was with her, why am I feeling like this?

Sitting down in the dining hall, I realised Jasmine had got me some of favourites like she knew I would want food.

Making small talk with them was boring, I found myself just wanting to listen to Jasmine and no one else.

After an hour, she got up to leave.

“Where you off”

“I’m gonna call it a night” I felt myself wanting to be by her so I decided to go up with her. It was quiet in the lift so I decided to break the ice.

“Thanks for the food, it’s like you knew I needed it”

“Yeah no problem, you always hungry so I knew”

I couldn’t stop myself from laughing.

After saying goodnight and heading my room, i got in the shower and jumped into bed. Sleep took over me quickly.
