3 Ashleigh wondered what caused the shadows in Daniel’s eyes at her words. She wanted to ask him about it, about the losses she knew he’d been through, but she couldn’t. She lost any chance at that right when she married another man. Daniel wasn’t hers. Before he could respond to what she said, someone pounded on the door.
