The general manager announced excitedly. The door to the conference room opened, and a nobleman in a black suit strode in. Seated in the back row, Ava watched the man who appeared revitalized, sensing a newfound unfamiliarity. His expression was cold, his voice deep and magnetic but devoid of warmth. He immediately issued various commands, making everyone dizzy. The meeting lasted over three hours before it ended. People began to leave one by one, and Ava got up to leave as well. She didn't want to face him. "Stop right there." At that moment, a deep, magnetic voice came from behind her. Ava paused, turned around, and pressed her lips together before asking, "What can I do for you, Mr. Wright?" Her tone was distant and businesslike as if they hadn't been entwined in bed the night before. William, holding a file in his hand, glanced at her. "Come to my office." With that, he walked away first. Ava took a deep breath and followed him. Once the office door was closed, William frowned at her. "Why did you tear up the divorce agreement?" Ava stared at him steadily. "I haven't congratulated you yet, Mr. Wright." Her tone was laced with sarcasm. She suspected he had regained his memory long ago; otherwise, he couldn't have returned to the Wright family and started working so quickly. And now he appeared to the world when she finally saw his lie. He had hidden it from her. To be precise, he had deceived her. William's handsome face showed a flicker of emotion as he gazed at her. "Ava, we have no real conflicts. Can't we part amicably?" "No!" Ava suddenly became agitated, unable to hold back the tears in her eyes. "William, I never thought I'd bring home a scumbag! When did you regain your memory? As your wife, your most intimate partner, I knew nothing!" What did he take her for? Her heart ached as if it were being torn apart, making it difficult for her to breathe. Seeing the tears in her eyes, William's gaze deepened, but his expression grew even colder. "I have my reasons. You do not need to know." "Hah!" Ava scoffed, holding back her tears, her tone turning icy. "Let me tell you, I won't divorce you. Don't even think about it!" She turned and walked away. "You wouldn't want to lose this job, would you?" Behind her, his cold voice rang out. "You're an orphan who struggled to establish yourself in this city. This job must mean a lot to you." Ava glared at him. "What are you trying to do?" William simply replied, "Sign the divorce papers. My previous offer still stands." He was threatening her! Ava's hands trembled with anger. If he weren't so far away, she might have slapped him across the face! "William, you're despicable!" How could he change so much in such a short time? Or was he always this cold, and the past one and half year had been an act? William casually pulled out a tissue, walked over to her, and gently wiped away her tears. Ava slapped his hand away, her eyes filled with stubbornness. "Go ahead and fire me if you dare!" Divorce? Not a chance! She turned and walked out of the office, feeling her emotions gradually becoming calmer. William's hand froze in mid-air, his handsome face growing tense. When colleagues asked Ava what William had said to her, she just smiled and brushed it off. She sat at her desk, carefully thinking about what to do next. If William really tried to force her into a divorce, she could go public with their relationship, make a big scene, and let everyone know he was her husband. Wouldn't that stop him from divorcing her? Realizing what she was thinking, Aveline suddenly froze, then smiled bitterly. However, he had a change of heart. He didn't love her anymore. Was there any point in doing this? In the end, she was just unwilling to accept it. Why did he get to change his mind so easily? Would staying loyal to one woman for a lifetime kill him? "Ava, come here for a moment.'" In the afternoon, William's personal assistant, Desmond Blake, called her over. Ava got up and walked over. Desmond said, "These are some jewelry pieces. You have a good eye. Pick a set for me to give to a client." Ava was a bit surprised. Why would he ask her to do this? There were so many stylishly dressed women in the office. Although puzzled, she still selected a set. Desmond smiled. "Thank you." Then he turned and left. Ava, feeling perplexed, went back to work. That evening, she returned home to an empty and quiet house. She stood at the door, staring blankly for a while, her heart aching again. Was William not planning to come back? She sat on the couch and turned on the TV. She didn't want the room to be too quiet, or her mind would start to wander. She felt so lonely. "Our report today: Frederick Wright's missing second son has reappeared in public, attending a charity gala with a beautiful companion. What changes will William Wright's return bring to Chester City? Stay tuned for more..." Ava could no longer hear what the host was saying. She stared intently at the woman next to William. The necklace around her neck was the very one Ava had chosen earlier today! That woman was the same one in the private room that day, asking William when he would divorce Ava. She was intimately holding his arm. William had always been a clean freak. When she first brought him home, even though he had lost his memory, some of his body's instinctive habits remained. Once he became familiar with the environment, he started cleaning her house, making every corner spotless. He never accepted gifts from others, nor did he eat from street vendors. The occasional aura he exuded was something ordinary people lacked. But now, he allowed that woman to hold his arm so intimately. Was he trying to tell her that even if they didn't divorce, he would continue seeing that woman? Ava tightly clenched the hem of her clothes, her heart aching painfully, her eyes stinging with tears. How could William be so cruel? How could he give the necklace she had chosen to another woman? She took out her phone and called him. However, he hung up as soon as it started ringing. Undeterred, she kept calling until he finally answered. "What do you want?" His tone was incredibly cold. Ava tightly gripped her phone. The call connected, but she couldn't bring herself to ask the questions burning inside her. He had already done it all-what was the point of asking? "I don't feel well..." Compulsively, she spoke in a muffled voice and hung up immediately after. She held her phone, watching the time. In the past, if he heard she wasn't feeling well, he would have come back immediately. Unable to speak, he would ask her with frantic face, his eyes full of concern for her. Minute by minute, time passed. One hour, two hours, and still, there wasn't a sound at the door. Ava closed her eyes in pain. He truly didn't care about her anymore. She curled up on the sofa, like a wounded animal licking its wounds, tightly hugging herself, hoping it would ease the pain in her heart. Half-asleep, she felt someone lift her up. Startled, she quickly opened her eyes and saw William's sharp, handsome face. Her tears fell suddenly. "Will, you're back?" William carried her to the bedroom and laid her on the bed. Seeing her tears, he raised his hand to wipe them but stopped himself.
