In the boom time of the impending new century, it had done exceedingly well and provided much-needed work for prospectors on their way to the Klondike in search of bigger dreams. It prospered for the majority of the early 20th century, unencumbered by wars, economic crisis and political upheaval. In the mid-eighties, there had been a slight murmur from small conservation groups about the evils of wood chipping and the eminent extinction of the rainforests if current logging practices continued.
