XV PerfectLake watched the water slapping against her skin as she washed her hands. The blood came off easily. If only the mind could be washed of bad memories the same way. The fresh, clean water swirled an unhealthy red in the steel wash basin. She couldn't remember how long she had been standing, but she knew it was most of the night. In the same tent, Doctor Vinh, Judy and the volunteer nurses were just as exhausted as she was. After the last few hours, she looked forward to a good night's sleep.
