AbductionHunter had a hunch.
He left the Slice convinced that Lake had never reached town or the hospital. Climbing on his motorcycle, he headed for Lake's place, leaving the Council to decide what should be done. Most of them were still in denial, still believing Lake would turn up and make them look foolish for being so concerned, but others were talking search parties. Hunter knew that if someone had harmed Lake, they had four hours to make good their escape.
Even though it was a cold trail, Hunter followed his instincts. He thought about the route she would have taken to the hospital and went from there. She would live as long as she remained in Haven. If her abductor had taken her out of town, Hunter was certain he'd find her body in New Jerusalem.
