16. A Trap فخ Sam(a) hummed a vaguely familiar tune. It lingered just out of reach — only a few notes, repeating in her mind and mouth. She waited for Lilia and Ghozala to ready themselves to pay a visit to Monsieur Edouard, the dressmaker. Whatever the song stuck in her mind had been, it nourished feelings of melancholy in her chest. Hawa left through the front door with the three young women, back onto Flower Street. As they made their way up the block, in the opposite direction of the Mediterranean, Hawa made a sharp left, down the alleyway beside their home, back into the garden from which she had emerged with Sam(a) the night before.
