4. Stranger

Clara walked out of the club, her mind still on the man in the corner. His eyes had been so sad, so full of a quiet strength that it had shaken her. She told herself to forget about it. He was probably just another rich man looking for a thrill. But as she reached the street, he was there, standing under a streetlamp. Her heart fluttered with a mix of fear and curiosity. He didn't look like the other men who tried to talk to her. He was quiet, still. He walked towards her. “Hi,” he said, his voice low and calm. “I’m sorry to bother you.” I just… I couldn’t leave without saying something.” Clara held her bag tighter. “Thank you for coming to the club,” she said, her voice polite but firm, ready to end the conversation. He didn't take the hint. Instead, he took a step back, giving her space. “I'm not going to lie and say I didn’t see you on stage,” he said. But that’s not why I wanted to talk. I saw you. Not just the dancer, but you. "There's a light in you that's hard to miss." Clara's guard softened a little. He wasn't talking about her body, or her job. He was talking about her. “Thank you,” she said, a little less defensive this time. “It's nice to hear that.” "My name is Julian," he said, holding out a business card."I know this is a strange way to meet, but I would really like to get to know you. Not here. In the real world.” He didn't sound like he was trying to pick her up. He sounded honest. He sounded... lonely. Clara took the card. The paper felt thick and expensive. "I don't know you," she said softly. “I know,” he said, and his sad eyes held hers. “But I want you to.” If you ever feel like taking a chance, please call. No pressure.” With that, he nodded, gave her a small, respectful smile, and walked away. Clara stood there for a long time, the card clutched in her hand. It was a simple piece of paper, but it felt like a heavy choice. The man, Julian, was a complete stranger, yet she felt a pull towards him, a deep sense of connection that she couldn't explain.
