Few minutes after Marco left Alessandro and some of my men came rushing in.
" Tell Camilla to come down now" I commanded.
" How did he get in? " I asked no one in particular.
Camilla came down with her pyjamas looking really mad but when she saw the site she became alert.
" What happened? " She asked as she examined my injuries.
" Marco came and caught me unguarded. I was surprised and reacted slowly as he quickly pulled out a knife on my throat. I said
" i***t! Why were you so unprepared?" She asked angrily
" Alexia saved me." I replied
Everyone thanked her as they all left my office, only Alexia remained.
" Is something bothering you?" Alexia asked
" I'm good, let's go to bed." I replied
We were about leaving when Alessandro appeared
" Your father calls" he said then left .
I went to my father's office already knowing what he was going to say.
" How the hell did that happen?" He asked.
" I was just surprised and unprepared." I said angrily
" I trained you better than that. As the most powerful mafia lord you are meant to always be on guard. He said as our eyes met.
" You didn't train me, you only abused me. You never treated me as a son. You just seeked power and I was your prawn. Go to hell." I replied with rage.
" I don't care if you die. You are no son of mine. You mistake." He said as he left his office leaving me standing.
I walked to my room and saw Alexia wide awake waiting for me.
" Why aren't you asleep? " I asked her.
" You haven't explained what happened earlier today. " She replied
" Oh!" I said as I removed my shirt.
" Who's Marco? Why did he want to kill you? She fired questions at me
" I can't tell you everything until I can trust you." I said as she nodded.
" Marco is my rival. The second most feared mafia lord. I did something to him that made him hate me. He then made a promise to me but it wasn't a good one." That's all I can tell you.
" Is the promise related to your family? She asked
" I can't answer that. Sorry" I replied
" It's ok . Sorry about him." She replied .
" Good night, sweet dreams love." I said as we both settled to sleep.
I woke up early and left to train. I was thinking about buying our dresses for our marriage today, considering the fact that next month is our marriage.
" Good morning boss. I'm glad everything is ok. Next month is your wedding and Marco hasn't been seen anywhere near you " Alessandro said
" That's ok. I'll get Alexia ready. We'll be going out to shop for our wedding clothes." I said to him as I walked out.
I returned to my room only to see a made bed.
" Alexia?" I called out and no reply came.
" Is it possible Marco has taken her?" I asked myself.
" No." There's no way he can enter my house again.
" I want everyone to look for my wife now. Search everywhere. " I gave out the command.
" Capo ( Boss), Are you thinking Marco must have taken her because of his promise?" Alessandro asked
" I swear if he f*****g took her I'll not hesitate to kill him." I replied in anger.
" Everyone continue the search until you find her." I said and went to the library to check for her.
It was half an hour later and still no sign of her. I was going crazy.
" Who has any information on her? " Camilla asked for the hundredth time.
She screamed for Alexia over and over again.
" Boss, we've searched everywhere in the house and couldn't find her." My men reported back to me.
" Well, except the garden." Alessandro said.
" Why will she be in the garden? It has restrictions. " I said to no one in particular.
The garden was where my mother and I hid whenever my dad wanted to abuse us. She would sing to me and say we're playing hide and seek. We would stay there until eventually my father found us. He would beat up my mother in my presence and me too when he's not satisfied. I never allow anyone to enter into it as it reminded me of my childhood.
" Valentino, are you sure you want to go in there? Your past . Camilla asked worriedly.
" I have to go. It's the only way to know if she's still in the house. I replied and left.
"Alexia! Alexia!!" I called out as I reached the garden.
I got no reply. Deep down I was hoping Marco didn't take her away.
I walked over to the rose flowers in the garden and saw a familiar red hair underneath the rose bushes.
" Alexia, what are you doing here?" I asked as she jumped in surprise.
" I was bored and decided to explore the house. I saw this garden and since I love flowers I decided to enter." She said flatley.
" Didn't you see the sign? No entrance?" I asked calmly.
" It's too attractive not to visit." She defended herself .
" It's ok everyone is waiting for you inside." I said as I let her out.
Camilla ran and gave her a big hug the moment she saw her.
" What's the gig for?" Alexia asked
" What? Everyone has been looking for you for the past half hour. My brother was like,"If it's Marco's work I'll f*****g kill him." Everyone was worried, darling, especially my brother." She told Alexia as she laughed.
" Sorry to scare everyone." She said shyly.
" Glad to know you're safe." Alessandro said as Alexia thanked him in return.
" Everyone can leave now. " I told them.
" Don't ever do that again. I thought Marco had you." I said
" I'm sorry. I didn't know you all would notice my absence." She said innocently.
" That's ok. I wanted us to go shopping for our wedding clothes today but time is far spent so tomorrow we'll do that. Ok? " I told her .
" That's ok with me. Our wedding is just next month." She replied.
" Sir Dante wishes to speak with you Alexia. Alessandro said as he left.
" What does your dad want to see me for?" She asked.
"I don't know but you'll have to see him first in his office." I replied back .
" What does he want? " I asked myself as Alexia left.
