Klempner There’s not much left of her. Anything small enough to be eaten outright has gone. Large or bulky bones remain: the long lengths of both femurs, well gnawed, the bone of the lower leg… Tibia is it called? I can’t remember… … and there’s a single humerus, a couple of the larger ribs, a scattering of vertebrae and other bones which, with my limited knowledge of anatomy, I can’t put a name to. Juliana’s skull lies, resting on one cavernous cheek, amid the scatter of bony detritus. Only a few dark stains on the concrete, a few ragged threads of dried flesh hanging from the skull, testify to this once being a living person. The show’s over. What’s left?
