She had to face the facts. He had been after her money. Which was a laugh. She didn’t have any. It was all Albert’s. But it wasn’t public knowledge that they didn’t share bank accounts, so how would he have known? Maybe if he did, she would have been spared unnecessary heartache.
It was then she’d thrown herself into this project. Maybe it was spurred on by part loneliness, part need to show Albert she wasn’t a woman that got sucked in by a handsome face and kind words.
