Swiftly, Daniella turned back and ran towards the direction of the screams to find out exactly what was happening. By the time she located the exact place, the multitude had already gathered there. Apparently, there was a fire incident; some people in the crowd was helping the woman take out her goods from the shop, while the others were trying quench the fire before the arrival of the Fire-fighters. The paramedics were already on ground to administer First-Aid to the woman who owned the shop as she suffered slight injuries and burns. Quickly, they swung into action, as the crowd parted to give them some space to treat the injured woman. Within few minutes, they were done with the treatment; immediately, they put her into the ambulance with the help of a stretcher and drove straight to a nearby hospital for further medical care. Concurrently, the Fire-fighters were already on ground to begin their operations too. It was alot of fire in the building and out of curiousity, Daniella asked a man just beside her how the incident had occurred. "From what I heard, the explosion occurred from the Refrigerator; Being into the repairs of major house-hold electronics, I'm so sure she was unaware that her compressor had developed some faults which ultimately lead to the explosion while the device was switched on. Though some goods and a significant part of the shop have been destroyed, I'm very thankful that no c*****e was recorded." The man explicitly narrated. Both of them continued with their conversations until the firefighters were able to totally subdue the fire. When the crowd started dispersing, Daniella also followed suit, as she headed back to Nicoletta' shop. With alot of time spent at the fire incident scene, she hastily increased her walking steps to avoid being at the back of the long queues usually experienced at Nicoletta' shop.
Good afternoon, Daniella greeted. Oh! weren't you the person I saw talking with a man at the scene of the fire outbreak ? Nicoletta asked. Yes, I was on my way here but made a U-turn when I heard those screams for help — Daniella replied. I was there too but I made my way back to the shop once the Paramedics drove out. I just called into the hospital some minutes ago and was assured my friend is recuperating. I'll definitely go check up on her after the day's work. "So how are you ? Hope your mother's fine too ?" Nicoletta asked in her famous husky voice. " My mother and I are fine," she replied. Nicoletta knew all wasn't alright, she sounded very downbeat and her facial expressions were cold. "Something is wrong my dear! your mannerism clearly suggests that." she said. Daniella didn't want to bore her with the ordeals she's been facing as regards her job hunt, so she insisted on being fine. "I'm your mother's best friend, you can always confide in me," she persisted. Daniella suffered from paranoia, hence being a lone ranger became very normal. She always wanted to sort out her issues all by herself. It was a trait that had pros and cons she was fully aware of.
Nicoletta was one person Daniella could trust. The bosom relationship with her mother alongside the compassionate traits she always exhibited, made it easy opening up. "I lied, I've a problem." Daniella said. I'm all ears, please speak! Nicoletta opined. "I'm into my third month of searching for a job but all my efforts have proven futile, it seems the odds are against me." Daniella added. "Oh! I'm deeply sorry for your misfortune, I believe there'd be a silver lining." Nicoletta assured. Quickly, her mind cast to a conversation her husband was recently having with one of his friends where he needed some staff to work at his new establishment.
Excitedly, she relayed that information and also promised to make more enquiries from her husband when she got home. Immediately, Daniella face lit up. A large smile was seen on her ever pretty face. She proceeded into thanking her for the update and also showing concerns towards her predicament. Nicoletta then hugged and re-assured her that everything would soon fall in place. She wanted to conversate more as a garrulous nature would, but Daniella quickly started to purchase the food items as evening approached. As usual, Nicoletta subsidized all the items she bought, because her funds were incomplete. Once again, she expressed gratitude towards the generosity shown; wished her farewell before setting out to go home.
Katherine anxiously anticipating the return of her daughter, sat just outside their cubicle to take in some fresh air. The toughness of the floor outside their cubicle made it extremely easy to spot with her walking stick. Katherine's sense of hearing was so strong that she instantly recognised Daniella's presence by merely listening to the footsteps. Welcome back my daughter, she said. A very excited Daniella hastily exchanged pleasantries and began gisting with her, as usual. After hearing the assistance Nicoletta offered, the joyous Katherine wanted to put a call through but she had run out of airtime. Please don't bother about purchasing airtime for me, I know my good friend will definitely give me a call very soon — Katherine instructed. With the intensity of the sun gradually declining, both of them decided to enter their cubicle so the cooking could start.
Daniella loved cooking. As a matter of fact, that was her favourite hobby and anyone who ate the meals she prepared, attested to how delicious it was. At exactly 8PM, the delicacy was ready and she dished it appropriately. As they were about to eat, Katherine's phone rang. Who's calling, she inquired. Mummy, it's Nicoletta. Rivetingly, the call was answered. Pleasantries were exchanged and then, she thanked her appropriately for giving a discount on the foodstuffs bought. Conversely, Nicoletta told her bosom friend about the availability of the job; the full details regarding where and when the interview would be conducted. Daniella overhearing all their conversations, stopped her mother from relaying the job information so they could eat as the aroma emanating from the food became irresistible. After the first spoon of the food went into Katherine's mouth, she threw up!
