Mother! What's wrong ? Should I get you some water to drink ? A panicking Daniella asked. Yes, I do! The food was so hot that it hurt my chest as I tried swallowing — Katherine slowly replied, then went on a coughing spree before gulping a cold glass of water. I'm so sorry mother! I think you should wait a little while for the food to still lose some heat — Daniella calmly suggested. Never! You know quite well I love my food very hot and spicy. That's was just a misnomer, I'll be fine — Katherine assured. The food was so delicious that both of them didn't utter anymore word until they exhausted everything on their plate, before Katherine broke the silence. When you're done washing the plates, please switch on the T.V let us watch the News before going to bed. Us ? "Mother I'm tired! I'll watch the News with you some other day" Daniella replied. Watching the News wasn't among what she loved doing. Infact, only Action Movies and Cartoons got her glued to the T.V. Daniella was more of a radio person; she could listen to Music and Talk Shows all day. How will you know about the current happenings in the country if you keep refusing to watch the News ? How else do you want to stay updated ?? We both are going to watch the News together — Katherine insisted. Grudgingly, she walked into the Kitchen to take care of the plates before the News starts. All through the duration of the News, Katherine made sure Daniella sat very close because the last time they were watching the News, she sneaked away! When the News was done, Daniella quickly changed the channel to an all movie station and bid her mother goodnight, as she went to catch some sleep.
Very early on a windy Thursday Morning, Daniella woke up to carry out some house chores. It was also the day of the interview which was scheduled for 8 A.M; she needed to get ready for that as well. Hastily doing the chores and subsequently having her bath afterwards, She put on a red jumpsuit dress and was ready to leave. She received her mother's blessings and some cash which would serve as the transportation fare. As she stepped out of the house, it came to her memory that she had forgot to put on her necklace. The necklace was a gift from her mom when she clocked 10 years. Daniella perceived it to be a good luck charm so she religiously wore it for every outing. Immediately, she stepped back into the cubicle to get the necklace which was constantly placed inside her wardrobe.
Locating the venue for the interview what somewhat a strenuous task. Daniella had to ask passers-by how to reach the exact venue after alighting from the train. Finally, she reached the venue just in time with alot of her peers already there waiting to be interviewed. They all sat at the lobby, waiting for their turn to be interviewed. As each person entered the office, Daniella's heart raced. She couldn't withstand any more rejection! The faces of those that had been interviewed left so much to be desired. Their disconsolate faces increased her anxiety, but she still believed everything would turn out fine. While waiting for her turn to be interviewed, she brought out a mini flask from her hand-bag and sipped some tea to reduce the tension faced.
Finally, it was Daniella's turn to be interviewed after almost two hours of waiting. She was visibly tired but summoned inner strength to stand on her feet. On approaching the office, she adjusted her red jumpsuit inorder to look very prim and proper. Shockingly, no-one was there after entering the office. "Hmmmn.... What's going on here ?" Daniella muted. While wondering why did interviewer wasn't there, she sat on a rolling chair and admired how aesthetically pleasing the office looked. It was fully air-conditioned with good looking furniture decorated in it. To her, the office was like Heaven on Earth! Suddenly, a short looking man with thick beards came out from the rest room. Good morning Sir, Daniella greeted. Morning! young lady, my name is Zambrotta; I'm the C.E.O of this company — Alfredo Mart. Swifty, the interview session started. Zambrotta noticed her pretty face and endowed body, but maintained professionalism all throughout the process. Observing her qualifications tendered and lack of work experience, she stood no chance but he decided to extend some grace after seeing the desperation on her pretty face. With the Interview fully conducted, he decided to go more personal. "Please can you tell me more about yourself and family ?" Zambrotta quizzed. After she had narrated about her life, family and the several ordeals faced, he was convinced more than ever to grant her the job. He also knew his meagre salary would be easily accepted without any form of resistance. Zambrotta was a very stingy man and all his staff could attest to that. With a huge smile on his face, he told her she'd gain an employment in his firm. Unknowingly Daniella screamed! She didn't believe what had just been said. This is surreal! Finally, I'm seriously going to have a job! Daniella gleefully said. Still basking in that euphoria, she almost ran out of the office before being called back by him. Here's your appointment letter, please you can now exit my office — Zambrotta calmly said. Out of excitement, Daniella didn't even bother going through the appointment letter in his office; she just wanted to dash home and break the good news to her mother.
Daniella never trekked any distance while going home as she normally does. Within a short period, she reached home, then went straight into the kitchen where Katherine sat. Mother! I'm so elated right now!! Please can you guess why ? Daniella quizzed. You know taking a guess isn't my forte, but you sound really excited! What's going on ? Katherine anxiously asked. Mother! I've finally gotten a job! I'm now a staff of Alfredo Mart — Daniella happily replied. Upon hearing the good news, Katherine was numb for some seconds. She couldn't believe it too! What! You finally got job ? I'm so happy for you! I knew your time would come! Patience is indeed a virtue — Katherine said, as they both shared a passionate hug. Now that you have been offered employment, were you informed of your salary and when to resume ? Katherine inquired. That's true! Let me quickly go through my appointment letter to find all those details — Daniella responded, and then reached for her hand-bag on the table. After carefully removing the letter from a well sealed envelope, she began reading through it and was extremely shocked with its content.
