The shrill alarm tone bugged her beauty sleep and she dismissed the alarm before yawning and sitting on the bed. Rubbing her eyes to tackle the fight sleep was putting her through, she stood up and opened the curtains of her room, welcoming the day. It was the only thing she liked in her room, or rather in the entire city. The serenity of the view, of the rising sun and it's reddish hue falling directly on her face, the gentle breeze playing with the locks that had freed themselves from her long braid. "Kashish, wake up beta", she heard a voice calling her and she turned to welcome her mother, Mrs Padmini Mathur. "Good morning Maa", She wished her with a smile and Padmini entered patting her beloved daughter's head. " Good morning. You woke up before me yet again, just like every morning", She complained with a pout and Kashish laughed at her mother. "Just five minutes before you Maa", She giggled and this time Padmini joined her. They had this unsaid mini competition between them, but every single day, Kashish won from her mother, no matter how early Padmini woke up. Half an hour later, all freshened up and ready Kashish was reading the newspaper in the drawing room while her mother prepared the breakfast. In front of her, on the single bed of the drawing room was sleeping her younger brother- Yash. She smiled at his sleeping face, busy dreaming the world at its feet! Dreams were something she never believed in, since she had collected herself into this mature young women. Ambitions are different but the dreamy kind of dreams were never her cup of tea. Why waste your time visualizing things that won't be real ever? Well, that was how practical Kashish was. Ruffling his hairs, Kashish went into her mother's room, shaking her sister out of her beauty sleep. "Get up Aashi, you will be late for college", she tried waking her up while Aashi twisted and turned, again drifting to sleep. " Kashish, you have your breakfast. I will get them to leave before going to school", she heard her mother saying and she nodded. Collecting her bag and the tiffin she was all ready to leave for work. Hurriedly eating the breakfast, she made sure she had everything she needed for office. " Take care Maa. Don't exert yourself running behind your kids. And make sure these two sleepy heads go to college on time", she repeated her Every-morning-compulsory-dose-of-instructions and her mother nodded before smiling at her over caring daughter. Well that was the everyday routine at the Mathur household. Kashish Mathur, the eldest daughter worked as a manger at a MNC followed by her part time job at a library for running the home. She was the bread earner of her house and the father figure her siblings looked up to. Aashi and Yash were twins, four years younger to her and now we're in their first year of college. Aashi was pursuing law while Yash was a MBA student. Their mother was a english teacher in a nearby school where she taught students till tenth. A middle class family and their struggles are many, not every struggle is painted on the canvas but that's doesn't mean they don't exist. In this house, Kashish had taken it on her to not let her siblings or her mother feel the burden, at least not the way she had. _______________________________________ ~at the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair should be messy and your eyes sparkling~ The guitar tune brought the entire mansion to life and it was also the signal for Mrs Reema Sinha that her elder son was finally up and she needed to send his green tea upstairs. After one complete hour, descended the prince charming of the Sinha clan- Yudhisthir Sinha. A sweet whistle playing on his lips,he came down to find his mother talking over a new deal. Reema Sinha was the most appreciated interior designer of the elite class and she was proud of it. Though it also kept her busy way too much, she tried her best to have some time for her dear family. " Morning mom", Yudhisthir wished with a smile and Reema wished him back. Picking up an Apple from the fruit basket, he moved towards the exit and then turned suddenly. " Wake up Kabir mom. He is still asleep", he rolled his eyes, " and I am leaving for office. Dad would be waiting". Reema wanted to stop him and ask him to have breakfast but at the same time her cellphone rang and she picked it up for it was her new client while Yudhisthir left for office. Yudhisthir was interning under his father, learning the basics of his buisness and it's extent while also studying the nature of his Father while he dealt with associates. He already had an Oxford MBA degree so all he needed was a little experience. Guitar was his best friend and singing his favourite pass time. He loved learning new whistle tunes and then annoying his mother with them. Yudhisthir loved his family very much, no doubt. Over all, he was a carefree soul who wanted to enjoy his life before he turned forty! Nevertheless, he entered his dad's cabin to find it empty. Must be in a meeting. Since he had no work assigned for the day, he picked up his novel from the desk, the one he was reading recently, Everytime it rains by Nikita Singh. He wasn't a very big fan of Indian authors but it is always a good option if you want something light and easy. Well, he loved the protagonist Laila and her way to deal her life, even though it was shattering her. He loved drawing comparisons between the characters he read and himself or people around him. "One day I will meet a lady like her too, the one who knows to live her life her way striving through it", he thought in his mind and an instant smile made its way on his lips. And then he went back to reading his book, lost in his dream worlds. Yuv, was a man of dreams. He knew reality was difficult, and hence his usual escapes were dreams. He loved day dreaming scenarios that might never happen, but who cared, until it was giving him momentary relief from the clutches of reality. He loved reading books for the very same reason, and his recent addiction was romantic stories. He had decided to visit a library in the evening, unaware that this one decision was going to change his life!
