Benjamin's whisper hung in the air. Evelyn turned to him. "You know who he was?" Benjamin stared at the old photograph, his hands trembling. "I never recognized it before." "The face is gone..." "But the watch isn't." He pointed to the scratched-out figure's wrist. A distinctive silver watch peeked out from beneath the man's sleeve. Its face bore the same emblem Evelyn had seen on the brass key— A tree enclosed within a circle. "I've seen that watch only once since William's time," Benjamin said quietly. "It belonged to the fifth founding member of Project Genesis." "His name was..." Before he could finish— Boom! A violent explosion shook the sanctuary. The lights flickered. Dust cascaded from the ceiling. Somewhere beyond the hidden passage, Anthony shouted. "Evelyn!"
