Scanning the ballroom large enough to fit a thousand people, I watch powerful men negotiate deals with each other while beautiful women displayed diamonds and mini auctions were being held at various places. Weapons hid beneath expensive suits, I knew my craft and that was easily seen.
And frankly, most of these men had no qualms in flaunting their weapons out for everyone to see. Many of them were just too proud to show off what small gadget they had recently gotten and it showed.
The Gala indeed matched my expectations.
This is the Mafia elite, and I began to navigate it using the teachings my father had given me years ago. Body languages, monitoring conversation and going around unnoticed.
