Chapter 3 - The Job

2448 Words
I woke up to the sun shining through the large windows in the room. The tops were stained glass. The warmth from the sun felt nice on the side of my face, and I snuggled the thick duvet. Just a minute longer. I had forgotten where I was. The realization crept in. I was in Mr. Renwick’s house. Theo’s house. I must’ve passed out after I ate all of those crackers. I don’t even remember getting under the covers. I laid there and stared at the bed’s ceiling and the curtains that laid around it. He wanted me to find people to give him blood. How would I find people to just give someone blood? How did he have those people before? That had to be illegal, right? There’s zero safety precautions for him and the donors. How much does he pay them? I didn’t have any answers but I realized I was going to take the job last night. And I think I’m going to take the room too. There was nothing for me at home. A mostly empty house and a bedroom four times as small. I would still have to tell my parents I was moving out, but I would probably leave the castle out of it for now. I think I wanted the job out of curiosity too. This was by far the most interesting thing that had ever happened to me, and every interaction I have with ..Theo.. leaves me exhilarated. And kind of awkward too, but I’m sure that’ll go away. I laid in the bed for twenty minutes just thinking and getting everything straight before I started to smell food. Crackers sure weren’t enough. I got out of bed and hesitated before putting my dress back on. Would he think I’m dirty or understand id need to go home after my decision? Orrrrr.. I walked to the big wood armoire and flung it open. No way. There were clothes! There was probably only 10 items but I could already tell they were gorgeous. There was a black dress with red polka dots that looked straight of the 50s, I was already in love. I couldn’t wear it though, it felt like too much. I searched for pants and found a pair of black flare jeans with little white flowers on the sides. There was a white halter top that would’ve matched perfectly, but it also seemed like too much. I settled on a black button up tee shirt with a mini collar that also looked vintage as hell. I threw on the clothes and tentatively walked downstairs. The smell of food grew stronger as I walked through the rooms leading to the kitchen. It was beautiful in the light, and Theo sat at the island seemingly waiting for me. Brenna walked into the kitchen where I was sitting, waiting on her. I glanced up and smiled, taking a sip of my coffee, trying not to look too hard at her. She smiled back. She seems so nervous around me. I suppose I threw all of this at her so quickly. I had been thinking of her coming here for a couple of years. Once she graduated, I did not see her barely at all anymore. I started to realize I was actually looking forward to seeing her everyday. Then I really did need help. I could have figured it out on my own, I am sure, but I did not want to. I wanted her here. “Good morning, Brenna.” “Good morning.” She smiled again. She must have slept well. I exchanged the mattress last month. “Please, sit down.” I stood up and pulled out the chair for her, and then turned to make her a plate of an omelette I had made. I was nervous that she may not like it. She smiled at me again. I sat down as she started eating. “Have you thought more about the job? I still think you are the right fit.” “Mmhm” she said while chewing. “I have. I want to take you up on your offer. It’s really sudden, but uh, it feels right. I’m interested.” This time I smiled. I leaned back in my chair and spread my knees some to get comfortable. I noticed her watching me. “I am glad. I know you have questions. When you finish, we can go to whatever room you choose and talk.” She nodded and made eye contact with me. I kept contact and tried to see how long she would keep up her end. It wasn’t long. When she finished, she got up to take her plate to the sink and I watched her go. Normally I would take it for someone if I was the one who served it, but I wanted to see her. I had never seen her up close and personal before. When she came to the door, I was amazed. She was astonishing. The only thing I have been able to look at is her face when she blushes, always pretending I do not notice and then trying to do it again. I wanted her company, and I knew I would probably be attracted to her, but I was completely drawn. I was not going to let her know, so I watched as she walked away to the sink, moving delicately in socked feet. I watched her hips and butt sway slightly as she scraped some food off of her plate. I moved up to her waist. Perfectly curved in a way I wanted to wrap my hands around and squeeze. I looked at her arms and pictured them wrapping around my shoulders. And her hair, I imagined wrapping my hands around that too. I was going to have to wait a minute before going to whatever room she chose. I finished scraping my food off my plate. I could feel his eyes on me, even though I couldn’t see him. I wondered how he thought I looked in the clothes he left for me. I moved my butt around a little bit more than I had to, and I may have taken a few extra seconds before turning around. He was still slightly leaned back in his chair, legs kind of spread apart and holding his coffee in his lap. I hope he didn’t see me looking when he leaned back, but it looked so manly and I’m really not used to being around someone so attractive. “Do you want to go to the library?” I asked him, and he told me he would meet me in there. I went along and sat on the couch. It was much comfier than the one I sat in last night. He came in shortly after and sat next to me. I proceeded to ask him questions about what he was looking for. I was surprisingly eloquent for how close we were sitting. He had sat sideways facing me, with one leg on the floor and one pulled up in front of him with his knee bent. Eventually I ended up facing him too. I was curious. He told me he wasn’t good with the internet and he assumed I was knowledgeable enough from going to school. I told him we didn’t have computers at the school, they were a little too new, but I did have one at home and I could probably figure it out. Overall, he explained to me that he thought the best way to recruit people to donate blood was through the internet and he wanted me to help him figure out a way to do it. The only way I thought to advertise it was a for a fetish site, and I really didn’t want to explain it. “You can’t lie to people about needing it for a cause or hospital, people will report it really fast. You’ll have to advertise it as something else.” He looked confused. “If you want people to send you it, or even come here, you can’t say it’s for a medical facility because you’ll go to jail. I’m pretty sure it’s illegal regardless, though. You’ll have to post it on a fetish site.” His eyes widened, “there’s webpages for fetishes? Like feet?” I was no longer holding eye contact, “yeah, people will pay money for pictures of feet, or other things.” “Other things?” He smiled at me, he could tell I was uncomfortable. I looked up and smiled at him, it was contagious. “Yes.. but you could do the same thing with blood. People could think you’re bathing in it or something.” “Rubbing it on myself?” I blushed, “I’m sure that would satisfy someone’s fetish, yeah.” I didn’t know what I was so awkward, I was acting like it was my fetish or something. I think talking to him about s****l things was making me nervous. It wasn’t something I was into, but after imagining it, I’m quite sure he could rub anything on himself and I would find myself with a new fetish. “If you think it will work, Brenna, you can try. Will you need a picture of me? Like the foot pictures.” I didn’t think about that. People are definitely going to want pictures of the person they’re fetishizing. “Yeah, maybe. Probably. Do you have a camera? It can wait awhile, I will have to try to make a website soon. I can do it today.” He looked at me intently, “That sounds like a good plan. I do own a camera. The computer is in my room. I planned on Setting you up with an office. I did not think you would have a plan so soon.” “Well you said I was the right fit.” I grinned bashfully. He led me up to his room. We weren’t arm in arm again. I kept thinking of how I felt when he touched me. He touched me twice yesterday and it sent electricity through my entire body. I’m pretty sure the hair on the back of my neck stood up. I wanted him to do it again. I didn’t want to want it as badly as I did though, because I did want to stay here and work with him. I didn’t want to ruin any of that by making things weird with my girlish crush. I’m sure I felt him check me out, but what man isn’t going to look at a girl in his house, especially after being cooped up so long. We entered his room and I was stunned. He definitely didn’t give me the room I liked the best. It was almost completely red and black. It was still in an old Victorian style, but it was completely redone to match in red and black. It looked like a goth’s dream room. The bed was huge, bigger than mine. The sheets were black and silky, and I had to stop myself from thinking about what they’d feel like if I was naked. He led me to the computer and booted it up. It was way newer than the one I had at my family’s home. I sat down in his chair and he gently brushed my pony tail out of the way and pushed the chair in. Here I go, if I can focus. Brenna was starting to work on the computer. She had come up with a plan so fast, a plan I would have never thought of. A fetish site? It seemed so obvious. Most people would not be frequenting the site, which made it safer. And, it kind of turned me on. Or maybe it was just having Brenna blush under the context of s*x. Did she picture me rubbing blood on my body? Because I pictured her rubbing it on me. I have lived many years, and I am in no way ugly. I have had my fair share of s*x throughout time. I have participated in the fads, or even fetishes. But Brenna, she makes me feel differently. Any other girl, and even the occasional guy throughout the years, I would have had underneath me by now. Especially with that much tension building. But Brenna. Brenna, Brenna. I want to build that tension until it explodes. She came down when she started to smell dinner. She had taken her hair tie out of her hair and it now hung low around her shoulders. I stopped putting the plates down and looked at her. She put some of her hair behind her ear as if she knew what I was thinking. This time I may have blushed. She sat down at the table and we ate together. She told me about the website and how she would advertise it on already established websites. I did not understand much of what she was saying, so I think I did need her help more than I thought. Mid way through dinner I got up and poured us some drinks. I poured her a glass of wine and myself some scotch. I had the thought earlier that some alcohol may loosen up some of the nervousness between us. She drank it heartily, so I did the same. By the end of dinner, she was talking. A lot. And I listened and smiled like a big dope, but I was a little to tipsy to care. She told me about her home life and how it was not much. She had everything she needed plus some, but never enough attention. I could give her some attention. She told me about that art project I had watched her do, and I asked to have a copy of the drawings and paintings, but she insisted they were not good and maybe just an excuse to sit and relax by my house. I still want to see them. She told me she was worried about the dress she wore because it was usually reserved for dates and didn’t seem professional and I accidentally told her she looked beautiful. I had never seen her face so red. I held my ground with my aura of false confidence and saw how long she would hold my gaze again. It was longer, she was looking up at me with just her eyes, her face turned down, with a look I had not seen before and do not know what it means. I think it is a positive face, or maybe I just like seeing her looking up at me.
