The Forgotten Shogun

All things must come to Light

Kyousei: After the battle, we went to have some drinks to celebrate our victory. Laito was one of my commanders, and was a very good friend of mine. He was injured after the battle, so he stayed away from the festivities. But…the woman he had loved was at that party, Negumi Rei. She had loved me, but not him. I did not love her. But in my time of drunkenness, I slept with her.

A few weeks afterwards, myself and Laito went on another expedition to further our territory.

It lasted several months. And on our return, to my surprise, Negumi was pregnant. Laito saw this and was enraged. He confronted me saying that I knew that he loved her, and I did that behind his back and betrayed him. I had no words, other than to ask for forgiveness.

Laito did not even give me the time he disappeared the very next day.

Shinen: So where did he go?

Kyousei: I did not know. But I spent the last few months of Negumi’s pregnancy getting to know her, and I then fell in love with her myself. When you two were born, it was the greatest feeling of happiness I have ever felt.

I thought to myself, maybe I can leave this life behind. After all the wealth I had gained as a shogun, I can live my life in peace. It was not to be. A few months later, one night, I was taking a stroll around our old home, when I was ambushed.

Kyousei: A small group of skilled samurai covered in masks attacked our home.

I killed 2 out of the 8 assailants and left the rest with the house guards. I then rushed to your mother's dormitory, to find her holding onto you two covered in blood. Dead.

I was filled with rage and hate. I then slaughtered the remaining assailants, but realized that one had gotten away. He killed the remaining guards and vanished. But he left a message that simply said, “Aniki”. From that, I knew who it was. I left you with Kuronai, and sought out to find him, only to realize that Laito was hiding out at the palace of King Otto.

I stormed the castle and demanded Laito, but the king refused my request. I made my way into the castle, killing the guards at the door and hiding amongst the trees and rooftops. I searched and searched until I finally found him. I cornered him and asked why he did it. He just laughed and said, "You know nothing". Before I could react, I was surrounded and had to yield.

I was later summoned to the great hall for a final verdict as to my negligence in disobeying King Otto. But as Laito said, I knew nothing. Laito conspired with King Otto to frame me for killing my wife and his personal guards that he sent to our home, on the pretense that I had gone mad. The other commanders all believed Laito and his claims.

I was to be banished and to commit Seppuku. I had accepted my fate... Until I was told by Kuronai that she found out that it was King Otto and Laito that conspired against me. With rage in my heart, I broke out of jail and killed King Otto, ravaged the castle and slaughtered anyone that stood in my way. I then found Laito, and confronted him about what he had done.

*Flashback*

Kyousei: Laito!!!!, you will pay for what you have done.

Laito: Oh? I will pay, funny you would say that.

*Laito draws his blade*. *Kyousei whips off the blood that was dripping down his blade, then charges at Laito*.

Kyousei: I will make you suffer a thousand times over LAITO!!!

Laito: I would like to see you try KYOUSEI!!!

*Their blades crashed into another, echoing throughout the castle. Countless clashes, missed slashes and groans could be heard in the dead of the night. And as the two were deadlocked in battle, they heard a whistling through the air, until an arrow had fallen at their feet. As they looked up they realized two strange figures staring down at them.*

We were interfered by the sons of King Otto, who were also enraged at the loss of their father. The battle became a 1 versus 3. In a last ditch attempt, I used the Kuraikugekitokanu. A shadow technique which was supposed to bind the opponent to their shadow, I messed up the incantation, and as I tried to escape, Laito slashed at my head, thus cutting my brow.

I escaped, but was gravely wounded. Kuronai helped me escape. We fled to one of the eastern provinces and stumbled upon a small village. And here we are.

Kyousei: I do not know how much longer we have until they attack. But I am asking you not to fight in this battle.

Kosen: Why?!!?!, we are as strong as one of your commanders and we’re only 13.

Kyousei: Soon to be. But my decision is final.

You may return to your dormitory unless instructed otherwise.

*the boys left with a dejected look on their faces*

Shinen: Does he really not believe in our abilities?!?!

Kosen: Calm down brother, fathers reasons for this must be something that he knows we cannot handle.

Shinen: WHAT DO YOU MEAN BROTHER! We have been preparing all our lives for this AND YOU’RE SAYING WE CANNOT HANDLE IT!!.

Kosen: Shinen you have to understand the circumstances. Father has lived with this secret for all these years, and has tried to shelter us until we are ready.

Shinen: I DO NOT CARE!! We have been living a lie. He told us that mother had died when we were born, because she couldn’t handle having the both of us, all this time, who knows what else he had lied to us about?

Kosen: It doesn’t matter Brother, he is our father, and he is only acting in our best wishes.

Shinen: I’m not gonna comply with this request…not today, after all the sweat, blood and tears to reach to this point, only to be left out. I’m sorry Brother, but I’m not staying out of this one.

Kosen: Shinen please…

*Shinen whistles, hyodomaru his horse gallops his way*

*Shinen jumps onto hyodomaru and rides away*

Kosen: Shinen WAIT!!

*A few hours passed*

*Kosen has not seen his brother return as yet, so he sets out to find his whereabouts*

Kosen: Kuronai.

Kuronai: Yes master kosen?

Kosen: Have you seen my brother?

Kuronai: Not anytime recently, why?. Has something happened?

Kosen: I hope not…

*Kosen whistles and hyotomaru his horse gallops towards him*

*Kosen jumps onto his horse and rides away*
