Who hasn’t heard stories about bursts of adrenaline? People doing nearly superhuman things under extreme pressure? Moms lifting cars with their bare arms to save their kids and all that? What I feel right now isn’t just a burst of adrenaline. I feel transformed. My body isn’t the same anymore. My muscles, my veins, my vision, everything is different. And best of all, I don’t feel fear anymore. Only the conviction that I’m going to neutralize this threat as fast as possible. Time seems to move slower as I leap at the monster slashing my hands (claws?) at his throat. He dodges and lands a punch that makes me stagger. I regained my balance and attacked again, this time sinking my fangs into his neck. I taste the hot metallic blood dripping on my tongue. And for a second I want more. Th
