7 It didn’t take her ex long to get to the point. “Who were you talking to?” Rupert asked. Harlow used her foot to push the suitcase under her bed. “Friends,” she said, straightening her skirt and starting around the bed when he began to walk deeper into the room. “Harlow,” he said and tried to reach for her, but she swerved out of the way of his arm. Leaving the room was supposed to be her reprieve; an escape from the pending conversation. It didn’t work.
