Harlow’s neck muscles relaxed, letting her head fall to the side. “You know what, Ophe, you’re right. He does… He likes smart women. But you’ve forgotten what he doesn’t like… vendettas. You asked him to ruin your brother after Anwen died because you blamed Jarvis for what happened. Ryske said no.”
“Because he knew she wasn’t really dead.”
“Didn’t take away from what your brother did. Jarvis still drove Anwen to feel that she had no way out except to fake her own death… Ryske could have agreed with your suggestion and ruined Jarvis. That would’ve let Anwen return to him, if that’s truly what he wanted… Except Ryske doesn’t like vendettas.”
Harlow had piqued Ophelia’s curiosity and that was all she needed. “What are you implying?”
